Arts Association, HKUSU 香港大學學生會文學院學生會 Official page - Arts Association, The Hong Kong University Students' Union (A.A.H.K.U.S.U.)

Established in 1915, Arts Association, Hong Kong University Students’ Union (香港大學學生會文學院學生會) is one of the three earliest founded Faculty Societies in the University of Hong Kong, as well as the largest student organization within the Faculty of Arts serving more than 2,200 members. Representatives have been sent to the Union Council since its establishment, upholding the interests and reflecting the opinions of Arts students. Arts Association now comprises the Arts Students' Council, an Executive Committee of 9 members and 13 Academic Societies. The Arts Students’ Council (香港大學學生會文學院學生會文學院學生評議會), first set up in the seventies, serves to present Arts students in all matters concerning our interests, and functions as an official medium of communication among Arts students, student societies, the Students’ Union as well as University authorities in issues of common concern. The Executive Committee of the Association Central, moreover, is formed every session to promote concerns of our members in Faculty, Union and University affairs, and in social issues alike. They endeavour to organize events and provide welfare of various kinds with the objective to facilitate comprehensive development of Arts students. At present, 13 Academic Societies are affiliated to our Association, serving as representative bodies of students in the respective schools, departments, curricula or programmes. They are namely the American Society, Chinese Society, English Society, Fine Arts Society, French Society, German Association, History Society, Japanese Society, Korean Society, Linguistics Society, Music Society, Society of Comparative Literature and Spanish Society. With a growing number of programmes available for Arts students to declare as majors or minors, we anticipate the establishment of more societies with their application for affiliation to our Association in the foreseeable future.

當人工智慧與藝術結合時，人類的思想又會在當中扮演一個怎樣的角色呢？

文藝節的第三個活動將會以收集及交換匿名人工智慧藝術作品的形式，去和大家探討人類獨特創意在人工智慧藝術中的存在意義。活動期間，大家可於夢境、生命以及希望三個主題當中任意挑選一個，並以人工智慧應用程式去創造一幅與主題相關的圖片。待創作完畢後，歡迎大家於會室開放期間來打印自己的作品，或將打印好的圖片投入會室門口對應主題的袋子當中。🗳️ 在投稿後，大家可以從標示著自己所選主題的盒子中抽取一幅由其他同學創造的投稿作品，以此去對比自己和他人在同一主題下不同的想法。歡迎有興趣的同學投稿參加！🤩

When Artificial Intelligence merges with art, what kind of role does human thought play in it?

The third activity of the Arts Festival will take the form of collecting and exchanging anonymous AI art pieces, aiming to explore the significance of human creativity in AI art. During the event, you are invited to choose one of the three themes: Dreamscape, Life, or Hope, and use an Artificial Intelligence application to create an image related to the chosen theme. 🗳️ Following the completion of creations, you are welcome to either print your work during the Society Room's opening hours or put the printed one into designated theme bags located at the room's entrance. Subsequently, you may draw another student's submission from the box designated with your selected theme to compare and contrast your ideas with those of others on the same theme. Please Feel free to submit your work for participation if you are interested! 🤩

香港大學校務委員會本科生代表選舉諮詢大會 | Campaign Meeting for the Election for the Undergraduate Representative to the Council of the University of Hong Kong

香港大學校務委員會作為香港大學最高管治機關，本科生代表一席能代表學生聲音，推動同學的校政參與，為大學管治架構中重要角色。香港大學校務委員會負責管理香港大學之財務及人力資源事宜，以至香港大學的未來發展規劃。香港大學校務委員會本科生代表選舉將於二零二四年十一月十四日（星期四）上午十時至下午六時進行，並設有四個實體票站。

聯院會一直與各自的學院和校方在各種大學相關事務上建立緊密的溝通，旨在堅守我校「師生共治」的創始原則，為同學發聲。

是次諮詢大會由聯院會主辦，盼全體香港大學本科生能藉此了解選舉中的每位候選人，乃至他們各自的政綱。候選人將分享他們對各項校政議題之見解，望同學在選舉中投下明智一票。

The Undergraduate Representative to the Council of the University of Hong Kong (HKU Council) has a crucial role in empowering student participation in the governing body of The University of Hong Kong (HKU) by channeling the voices of the students. HKU Council is responsible for the management of the financial and human resources of HKU, and for HKU’s future developments. The Election of the Undergraduate Representative to HKU Council will be held on 14 November 2024 (Thursday) from 10:00 to 18:00.

The Faculty Societies are the representative bodies of all students across ten faculties at HKU. We strive to promote the general welfare of our members, facilitate communication between our members and the University, and represent our members in various circumstances. Over the years, we have established close collaborative relationships with our respective Faculties and the University on various University-related matters, echoing the founding principle of “Teacher-student Co-governance” of our University.

The Campaign Meeting would assist our members, i.e., all HKU undergraduates, to understand more about each and every candidate in this Election, particularly their manifesto. Candidates shall share their valuable insights regarding various issues in University Affairs, which would be beneficial for all students to make their well-informed decisions when they vote in this Election.

"The integration of AI-powered brushes with the distinctive medium of mugs"

As the second event of the Arts Festival, this workshop will intertwine technology and art by incorporating AI-driven drawing and graphic techniques with mug artistry, delving into the utilisation of Artificial Intelligence within the realm of artistic creation. Guided by experts, participants will harness AI technologies to craft personalized design graphics, subsequently imprinting these visuals onto dedicated mugs, culminating in the production of singular and bespoke artworks. 🎨

In the increasingly digitised world of today, Artificial Intelligence has emerged as an undeniable force, seamlessly integrating into our daily lives. AI not only impacts our learning methods but also reshapes our perspectives on artistic creation and appreciation. Through machine learning and big data analysis, AI plays an increasingly vital role in the realm of art. As Artificial Intelligence intertwines with art, a dialogue spanning eras and cultures is set to unfold.

The Arts Festival will centre around the theme of the relationship between Artificial Intelligence and human art, hosting a series of activities such as guest talk 🗣️, workshop 🎨, and article solicitation 📃, among others, to collectively explore the interplay and fusion between the two.

The festival will commence with a guest talk themed "AI Artistry: Fusion & Friction." We are privileged to have Dr. Kal Ng from our University as a guest speaker to delve into the impact of Artificial Intelligence on contemporary art creation and interpretation. The aim of this event is to enhance understanding of AI in art and stimulate contemplation on the intersection of technology and human artistry.

和平紀念日虞美人花派發 | Remembrance Poppy Distribution

一九一八年十一月十一日，隨著康邊停戰協定的簽署，標誌著第一次世界大戰落幕。此後，於每年的十一月十一日，各地人民均會襟上虞美人花，以悼念為和平與自由犧牲之生命。香港亦於一九四五年重光後，將每年十一月第二個星期日定為和平紀念日。

「法蘭德斯戰場上，虞美人花迎風綻放，在一排又一排的十字架間，標示我們最終的歸所。雲雀依舊翱翔在空中振翅高唱，聲音細瑣難辨，只因底下戰場槍聲正響。」（《於法蘭斯德戰場上》(In Flanders Field)）

一九一五年五月三日，加拿大軍醫 John McCrae 在主持同袍喪禮隔天，看到新墳上長出鮮紅的虞美人花，便撰寫了這首廣爲人知的戰爭詩。血紅色的虞美人花既令人聯想到戰爭的殘酷，亦令人感嘆於其頑強的生命力。兩次世界大戰結束後，虞美人花便成爲了悼念為國捐驅將士的象徵。

英國皇家退伍軍人協會 (香港及中國分會) 為所有居住在香港的前英軍人士提供協助，當中包括曾參與香港保衛戰的退伍軍人，以及其遺孀和子女。由二零二四年十一月四日（星期一）起至十一月十五日（星期五），聯院會將於各幹事會會房門外擺放虞美人花，歡迎所有香港大學學生自行索取及配戴。除可直接向英國皇家退伍軍人協會捐款外，同學亦能於各會房開放期間，將捐款放入捐款收集袋，由各院會幹事代為轉交。

為眾人抱薪者，不可使其凍斃於風雪。
為自由開路者，不可使其困頓於荊棘。

前人犧牲，永誌不忘。
