As everyone knows, wild pigs are practically eradicated from Canada.

Just not counting the photos and videos and observations I get every goddam day.

This is the area where strychnine will be used in Saskatchewan under this new 'emergency approval'.

A recent study found strychnine poisoned dogs and a wide range of poisoned wildlife in Saskatchewan --even after it was banned. It can kill humans and it is unbearable to see the brutal agony involved. Stories from people that got sub-lethal doses of strychnine and survived describe how horrific it is. Strychnine is a lot less dangerous when it is used properly but the evidence is clear that there are loads of examples here in Saskatchewan of this poin

There simply is no worse way to die--strychnine is highly unethical and causes unbearable pain for animals as they die.

Wild pigs will 100% eat dead ground squirrels (so called gophers, which they aren't) so just be aware--pigs may be a sub-lethal dose from eating one poisoned ground squirrel and may still be alive but can be deadly.

People say they ground squirrels underground to die. Not all of them and wild pigs are exceptionally good diggers and love dead rotten things and can smell carcasses from a long way and can easily dig them out.

Reality is that people will buy strychnine where they can and use it all over the province so this shaded area is just where it is approved--reality will be far different.

Game hunters found startlingly 'neon blue' flesh inside wild pigs in California in 2025, prompting advisory statements about potential contamination.

"I'm not talking about a little blue," Dan Burton, owner of a wildlife control company, told Salvador Hernandez at The Los Angeles Times.

"I'm talking about neon blue, blueberry blue."

An investigation by local authorities found that the dramatic color change was caused by rodenticide poisoning, prompting them to issue a warning throughout Monterey County.

Rat poisons containing the chemical compound diphacinone are often sold dyed blue for identification. The compound's use has been highly restricted in California since 2024.

Watch the video below for a summary:

"Hunters should be aware that the meat of game animals, such as wild pig, deer, bear, and geese, might be contaminated if that game animal has been exposed to rodenticides," said pesticide investigations coordinator Ryan Bourbour from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW).

"Rodenticide exposure can be a concern for non-target wildlife in areas where applications occur in close proximity to wildlife habitat."

It is now ILLEGAL to hunt wild pigs in Alberta.

Hunting and trapping wild boar in Alberta is illegal, with the following exceptions:

1. Owners and occupants of land, and those assisting them, may hunt or trap wild boar on land they own or occupy in order to prevent the establishment of, or to control or destroy, wild boar
2. commercial operators with a valid permit.

Any person who kills a wild boar must report the date, location and number of wild boar killed to the Minister as soon as practicable: Report a wild boar kill.

When not being raised as livestock, wild boar are considered ‘at large’ and are a provincially regulated invasive pest.
