September is recognised as Su***de Prevention Month and as Higher Health we stand firmly in support of students and young people across South Africa’s Universities, TVET and CET colleges, working every day to create safer and supportive spaces for mental wellbeing.

Understanding su***de means breaking harmful myths and replacing them with truth and compassion. Su***de is preventable, but only if we start talking, listening and offering the right kind of help without judgment, fear or stigma.

Higher Health provides access to mental health education, professional counselling and a 24/7 toll-free helpline: 0800 36 36 36. This service is free, confidential, and you will be directed to one of our professional psychologists who are ready to support you or someone you care about.

Let’s use this month to start meaningful conversations, encourage help-seeking behaviour and remind our peers: YOUR LIFE MATTERS.
