Do you understand how to use the summation formula? We are squaring the difference from each "Observed - Expected" value. I did not write negative signs, because the values were being squared. Every expected value was 33.3, so we can add all the numerators over that common denominator. Any questions?

I see more students are "Liking" this page. So, I wanted to re-post an old challenge. Who can tell me what the 33.3 represents in this table? Note: If all of the values on the die are "Equally likely" and you roll it 200 times, you expect it will land on each value 200 / 6 times. Perform a "Goodness of Fit" test for this data. You will be calculating a chi-square value.

Statistics Basics: Measure of Center - Median.
The median is the number at the middle of the data set. Half of the numbers will be below the median, half will be above it. Example: For the set: 3, 5, 7, 10, 13, 16, 24, 28, 35. The median is 13. If there are an even number of values, average the middle two. If 27 was added to this set, there would be 10 values. The Median will be ( 13 + 16 ) / 2 = 14.5. Five of the values are less than 14.5 and five are greater than 14.5. *** Always remember to put the values in order before finding the median.
