We strongly oppose the proposed transfer of the Agriculture, Veterinary, Engineering, and Food Science departments from BZU Multan to MNSUA Multan. These departments are not only an integral part of BZU’s academic structure but also represent decades of educational excellence, research achievements, and service to South Punjab.
The Faculty of Agriculture at BZU has consistently attracted a large number of students. Last year alone, around 200 students were admitted to Agriculture programs at BZU, compared to approximately 150 admissions at MNSUA. This clearly reflects the trust students place in BZU’s academic environment, experienced faculty, and research facilities.
BZU has established a strong reputation in agricultural and scientific research over many years. Our researchers, teachers, and students have contributed significantly to innovation, publications, and the development of the agricultural sector in Pakistan. Such a valuable academic and research culture cannot simply be shifted from one institution to another.
It is also important to remember that when MNSUA was established, many of its academic activities and classes were conducted within BZU’s facilities and with the support of BZU’s resources. BZU played a key role in nurturing and supporting the institution during its early years. Therefore, transferring these well-established departments from BZU now would be unfair and would undermine the university’s historic contribution to higher education.
We stand with the administration, faculty, alumni, and students of BZU in protecting these departments. Any decision that weakens BZU’s academic strength, research capacity, and future development should be reconsidered.
