Astronomical Society of Flinders Uni We are the Astronomical Society of Flinders University, a club for students interested in astronomy.

There will be an observation session Saturday 16 May 6:30pm to ~9:00pm in the gravel section at the back of carpark 3 (commonly referred to as ‘Siberia’) with our 400mm telescope. We should be able to see Venus, Jupiter (and the Galilean moons), Saturn (and Titan), nebulae, clusters and possibly some distant galaxies. Bring lots of clothes, it will be cold.

There will be an observation session Saturday 21 March 8:15pm to ~10:00pm in the gravel section at the back of carpark 3 (commonly referred to as ‘Siberia’) with our 400mm telescope. We should be able to see Venus, Jupiter (and the Galilean moons), nebulae, clusters, the International Space Station and possibly some distant galaxies. Bring lots of clothes, it can get cold.

There will be an observation session Wednesday 28 January 9:15pm to ~11:00pm in the gravel section at the back of carpark 3 (commonly referred to as ‘Siberia’) with our 400mm telescope. We should be able to see the Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Neptune, Uranus, nebulae and clusters. Bring lots of clothes, it can get cold.

There will be an observation session tonight from 21:00 to 23:00 (Friday 16/1/2015) in the section at the back of carpark 3 with our 400mm telescope. We should be able to see Mars, Neptune, Comet Lovejoy, nebulae, clusters, an iridium flare, the international space station and hopefully some distant galaxies. Bring lots of clothes, it can get cold.

Sorry for the late notice, the cloud forecast for this evening didn't look great until now.

There will be an observation session 6:30pm tonight (Tuesday 22/7/2014) in the gravel section at the back of carpark 3 with the new 400mm telescope. We should be able to see Mars, Saturn and its moons, nebulae, clusters and hopefully some distant galaxies (last time we saw Fornax A, ~69 million light years away). Bring lots of clothes, it will be cold. Sorry about the late notice.

There will be an observation session Tuesday 20 May at 6:30pm in the gravel section at the back of carpark 3 with our new 400mm telescope. We should be able to see Jupiter & the Galilean moons, Saturn, nebulae, clusters and hopefully some distant galaxies (last time we saw Fornax A, ~69 million light years away). Bring lots of clothes, it can get cold.

If the observation session is cancelled due to cloudy conditions a message will be posted on this page before 4pm on the day.

There will be an observation session Saturday 5 April at 7:30pm in the gravel section at the back of carpark 3 with our new 400mm telescope. We should be able to see the Moon, Jupiter & the Galilean moons (Io will be casting a shadow on Jupiter between about 20:15 and 22:00 which should be visible), nebulae, clusters and hopefully some distant galaxies (last time we saw Fornax A, ~69 million light years away). There should also be an Iridium flare visible at 20:00. Bring lots of clothes, it can get cold.

If the observation session is cancelled due to cloudy conditions a message will be posted on this page before 4pm on Saturday.

Unfortunately the observation session scheduled for tonight (26/3/2014) has been CANCELLED due to the forecast of possible rain for this evening.

There will be an observation session at 8pm on Wednesday 26 March in the back section of carpark 3 (Siberia). Please check back here again before 5pm on the night in case it is cancelled due to cloudy conditions (it has been a bit unpredictable the last few days). Current forecast ( http://www.skippysky.com.au/Australia/ ) is for excellent viewing conditions.

We will probably hold an observation session soon, possibly Monday night or probably Tuesday night. We will keep an eye on the weather forecast and send an email to members tomorrow if conditions look favourable.
