[Mobility Programme to Kyutech, Shiga and Tokyo, Japan & RoboCup Japan Open 2026]
11 students from the Putrabot Team, under UPM Robotics Club, participated in the Mobility Programme to Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech), Shiga and Tokyo, Japan & RoboCup Japan Open 2026, held from 19 April to 4 May 2026.
Throughout the programme, participants underwent technical preparation and knowledge-sharing sessions at Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech), focusing on robotics system development, hardware and software integration, sensor configuration, camera systems, navigation, ROS2, and robotic arm implementation. The students were also involved in robot debugging, system testing, task simulation, and final preparations before competing in RoboCup Japan Open 2026 at Shiga Daihatsu Arena, Otsu City, Shiga, Japan.
The programme provided students with valuable hands-on experience in intelligent robotics, service robot systems, artificial intelligence, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving within an international competition environment. In addition, the programme offered cultural exposure through visits to Osaka and Tokyo, allowing participants to experience Japanese culture, lifestyle, and technological advancement.
The Putrabot Team proudly achieved outstanding results by securing First Place in the Bridge Competition Open Challenge and Third Place in the Bridge Competition. These achievements reflect the team’s dedication, technical capability, teamwork, resilience, and continuous effort in advancing robotics innovation.
The success of this programme was also made possible through the financial, technical, and moral support provided by Professor Tamukoh and Team Hibikino-Musashi from Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech). Their guidance, assistance, and encouragement throughout the programme played an important role in supporting the team’s preparation, learning experience, and overall achievement.
The programme also served as a meaningful platform to strengthen academic and research collaboration between Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech), while enhancing UPM’s presence in international robotics and future technology initiatives.
Here’s to building innovation, engineering excellence, and global connections.
