๐—ก๐—˜๐—ช๐—ฆ | PJM to Pre-K2 parents: Education and good values begin at home

By Jeremy Pascual

Addressing parents and guardians of Pre-Kindergarten 2 learners, MMSU President Virgilio Julius P. Manzano Jr. said, โ€œEducation and good values begin at home.โ€ This message was delivered by Vice President for Academic Affairs Aris Reynold Cajigal during the 5th Pre-Kindergarten 2 Moving-Up Ceremony held on May 25 at the MMSU-LHS Covered Court.

The event honored 45 young learners marking their first academic achievement as they completed at the MMSU Center for Inclusive Early Childhood Education (CIECE). This was attended by their proud parents, guardians, university officials, faculty members, and guests.

With the theme โ€œLittle Steps to SUCCESS Start Here,โ€ the ceremony focused on the important role of early education in the growth and development of children.

Guest speaker Dr. Generose Christy Mateo, Chair of the Department of Microbiology, Parasitology, and Immunology at the MMSU College of Medicine, inspired the children to embrace their curiosity and dreams as the starting points for their future successes.

Drawing parallels to the animated series Bluey, she highlighted how aspirations often sprout from simple moments of wonder and evolve into significant journeys. The event also served to acknowledge the vital contributions of families and educators in shaping the childrenโ€™s early learning experiences.

The commitment of the MMSU Center for Inclusive Early Childhood Education (CIECE), along with the MMSU College of Teacher Education, led by Dean Ronald Candy Lasaten, was evident in their dedication to nurturing young minds within an inclusive and supportive educational environment.

We proudly congratulate the 63 new professional teachers of Mariano Marcos State University who passed the March 2026 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT).

Leading the new educators is Mae Rose Len Acoba, a Nursing graduate of MMSU CHS Class of 2008, who ranked 9th nationwide with a rating of 93.40%.

She completed her Professional Education units at the MMSU College of Teacher Education this year.

Although March is not the regular examination period, which is usually held in September, MMSU graduates still delivered an impressive performance. The College of Teacher Education produced 25 passers, the College of Industrial Technology registered 22 passers, and MMSU Batac contributed 8 passers.

Moreover, MMSU CTE, our Center of Excellence in Teacher Education, consistently performed above the national passing rate, recording a 57.14% passing rate in the elementary level compared to the national passing rate of 56.03%, and a 73.53% passing rate in the secondary level compared to the national passing rate of 73.10%.

Our passers are among the 63,377 new professional teachers across the Philippines.

The entire MMSU community, headed by University President Virgilio Julius P. Manzano, Jr., is proud of you!

Today, we celebrate a very special occasion.

Mariano Marcos State University College of Teacher Education joins the world in honoring all forms of mothers, the first teachers in every home, whose patience, sacrifices, and support lay the foundation of who we become. We recognize not only biological mothers but also adoptive mothers, grandmothers, guardians, single parents, and everyone who takes on the role of nurturing and guiding with love.

We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to our โ€œsecond mothers,โ€ our teachers, who nurture minds, guide dreams, and stand as pillars of wisdom and compassion within our classrooms. Your dedication goes beyond instruction; you inspire, uplift, and care with motherly love.
To all the incredible mothers and mother figures in our lives, thank you for your boundless love and strength. You are seen, valued, and deeply appreciated, today and always.

๐—ก๐—˜๐—ช๐—ฆ | MMSU ranks 60th globally in 2026 WURI

By Ian Paul Villanueva

Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) secured 60th place worldwide in the 2026 World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI), marking its highest ranking since entering the list in 2021 and sustaining its position within the Global Top 100 for the second time.

The university improved from 89th in 2025 and 107th in 2024, after previously placing within the 101โ€“200 bracket. With its placement in the 2026 rankings, the university continues to lead Region I state universities and colleges.

Notably, MMSU placed 9th in the world in the AI-Based Teaching and Learning Transformation category, WURIโ€™s new addition to this yearโ€™s 24-category framework. The category assessed how well the university integrates AI tools in education to enhance the learning experiences of students.

MMSU also broke into the Global Top 20 in four other areas, namely Social Impact through Knowledge Transfer (Rank 12), Industrial Application (Rank 12), Interdisciplinary, Convergent, and Integrated Research (Rank 14), and Digital and AI Transformation in Strategy and Management (Rank 16).

Across the 17 categories in which MMSU was ranked, the university ranked within the Global Top 100 in all entries, with most rankings in the Top 50. This reflects that MMSU consistently performs strongly above many global peers.

For MMSU President Virgilio Julius P. Manzano, Jr., MMSUโ€™s steady ascent in the WURI rankings reflects how the university has institutionalized many of its best practices that benefit its stakeholders, primarily the students.

โ€œOur steady improvement in these rankings proves that our achievement is not just a one-time success; it demonstrates how we have successfully institutionalized excellence within our frameworks,โ€ said Dr. Manzano. He credited this accomplishment to the strong leadership of MMSU's 7th President and current CHED Chairperson, Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis. โ€œLet this achievement motivate us all to aim higher and continuously enhance the services we provide to our stakeholders,โ€ Dr. Manzano added.

The 2026 WURI Rankings looked at 24 categories spread across three axes: Axis 1: Innovation Targets (For Whom to Innovate?), Axis 2: Innovation Means (How to Innovate?), and Axis 3: Innovation Targets (What to Innovate?).
