Connecting Cultures, Inspiring Learning: Inbound Mobility Programme 2026

A meaningful week of learning, friendship, and cultural exchange.

From 17–22 May 2026, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) proudly welcomed students and staff from Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS), Thailand, and Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), Indonesia, for an exciting international mobility experience organised by the School of Civil Engineering, USM.

Throughout the four-day programme, participants engaged in various academic, cultural, and sustainability activities designed to strengthen global collaboration and cross-cultural understanding. The programme featured ice-breaking and team-building sessions, hands-on engineering activities, batik canting workshops, traditional handicraft experiences, academic sharing sessions, and heritage visits around Penang.

One of the highlights of the programme was the Sustainability Programme: Edu-Mangrove Experience at Sungai Merbok, Kedah, where participants explored mangrove ecosystems, experienced biodiversity cruises, and took part in mangrove planting activities to promote environmental awareness and sustainability practices.

Beyond the activities, the programme created opportunities for students from different countries to build friendships, exchange ideas, and experience Malaysian culture together. The smiles, teamwork, and shared experiences throughout the week truly reflected the spirit of international collaboration and lifelong learning.

The School of Civil Engineering, USM would also like to extend its deepest appreciation to the dedicated individuals who worked tirelessly, day and night, to make this programme a success: Ts. Dr. Rosnani Alkarimiah as the programme coordinator, with the invaluable support of Dr. Vynotdni a/p Rathinasamy, Pn. Zalika Ramly, Pn. Umi Syahida Hassan, and Pn. Ilya Ainaalis Mohd Noor.

Thank you to all participants, facilitators, lecturers, and organising committee members who contributed to the success of this programme. We hope this experience will continue to inspire stronger international networking and future collaborations.
