The objective of setting up the advanced institute is to address challenges faced by the IT industry and produce the best quality human resource in the sector to match the global competition. Gujarat is reported to be the first state to give a favourable response to the Ministry and begun the process for its implementation. The government, sources say, is looking for 50 acres of land for the proje

ct near Vadodara. The state Education department is preparing a detailed project report to ensure its early implementation. While 50 per cent of the total cost would be paid by the Centre, 35 per cent would be contributed by the state and the rest by the industry partner. The state would provide the land free of cost. The participating industries would also contribute towards research laboratories, internships, faculty chairs etc. According to sources, any escalation in the cost estimates would be arranged by the private partners. The Centre will also provide recurring expenditure of Rs 10 crore per annum for the first four years from the commencement of the institute. The institute is expected to meet its entire operating expenditure within five years of commencing its operation. The Centre will provide monetary assistance for faculty development.

With absolutely no standardized measures these Institutes are monopolized by a handful of middle aged men called the Management and students have to abide by the law of the land which is a brainchild of their ever changing emotions with extremely restricted student involvement.
