EKU English majors learn about and prepare for varied careers in our core course ENG 201 (Career Development in English). Students complete five weeks of job shadowing, placed with a variety of units on campus. For both Katrina Grigsby and Anna Walls (pictured), this experience led to part-time positions with EKU's Special Collections & Archives, aligning with these students' career objectives. Read Katrina's testimonial below:

"During my time job shadowing in ENG 201, I worked on the Say My Name project for the Archives. Thanks to that experience, as well as the connections I made during my time there, I now have two positions in the Archives! I was hired as a Student Research Assistant to continue working on Say My Name the semester after ENG 201. I am now also a Library Student Assistant in the Archives, so I work on other projects too. I plan to pursue a career in archival work, so these experiences have proven invaluable in my journey, and it all started with ENG 201!"

Students in Dr. Rich’s ENG 201 (Career Development in English) course participated in a showcase about their Job Shadowing experiences and projects yesterday. The twenty-one students were placed in thirteen different offices or programs across campus for five weeks, and several of our campus partners for this project were able to attend.
