Sisaphila CPR

Sisaphila CPR Sisaphila is a collaborative effort in which Emergency Medicine doctors, nurses and paramedics educate the community on hands-only CPR.

IN AN EMERGENCY:

Call for help - dial 112 or use the MySOS app

If the person is not breathing - place both hands on the centre of the person's chest with your arms straight. Push down hard and fast until help arrives. Sisaphila CPR is an initiative with multiple partners, started by the division of Emergency Medicine Cape Town (EMCT), Western Cape METRO Emergency Medical Services, the Western Ca

pe College of Nursing, Hout Bay Volunteer Emergency Medical Services, and the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT.) It has quickly expanded to include multiple partners including the Western Cape College of Nursing, the Fire Department of Cape Town, Community Medics, MySOS, ER24, Professional Emergency Care (PEC) training college, the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI), St Johns Ambulance, and many more. Sisaphila means "We are alive." The aim of the Sisaphila initiative is that everyone should be able to act quickly and get help in an emergency. Our first event will take place during South Africa's National CPR week, from 5-6 November, at various venues all over Cape Town. We plan to continue this event in multiple locations and facilities including schools next year. Our sponsors for the event include:
