Youth Chamber of Shipping in Africa

Youth Chamber of Shipping in Africa YCSA - The young maritime professionals network and hub.

In 2009 whilst studying at UKZN two innovative students, Carol and Nomfundo, developed a desire to
start making a difference in the South African maritime industry. Initially they developed a student
organisation at the University campus growing their passion in the hearts of fellow learners. In 2013
this dream became a reality when YCSA NPC was registered by the 6 founding female Directors, Bu

keka Nzimande, Carol Sibisi, Nomcebo Sithole, Nomfundo Mkhize, Ntshovelo Shibambu and Sinethemba Hlengwa,
making the organisation a 100% black female owned enterprise. Their collective goal is to raise
awareness of maritime opportunities, predominantly throughout the youth in rural and local
communities across all Provinces in South Africa, later expanding into Africa. YCSA seeks not only to
create awareness but also to inform promising young South African’s about the maritime industry,
providing unique access to opportunities for graduates with key maritime corporations and
government stakeholders. Understanding the importance of diversifying to meet market demand
and keeping ahead of global practices, we believe our structure and winning team has positioned us
to deliver our dream, locally and across the African continent. Trust and respect are key in our
industry and with this in mind we have partnered with carefully selected and reputable
organisations, ensuring strong local support.

If yes ... because of what or who?

If no ....why not ?
