Dear Students,
We are excited to announce the launch of the Buddy Program! This initiative aims to support new students, especially international students, as they transition into university life. By becoming a mentor, you will play a vital role in guiding newcomers and helping them integrate smoothly into our university community.
Why should you become a Student Mentor?
- To make a positive impact on new students’ lives.
- To develop your leadership and communication skills.
- To enhance your resume with valuable mentoring experience.
- To foster a supportive and inclusive campus environment.
Ideal Students’ Requirements:
- Must be a senior at the University of Johannesburg.
- Must be an international student.
- Voluntary position (not paid).
- Willing to support first and second-year students, especially those struggling to cope.
Roles and Responsibilities include:
- To provide guidance on academic and extracurricular activities.
- To answer questions and offer ongoing support.
- To assist with navigating university systems and resources.
- To facilitate social integration and introduce new students to peers.
Application Period:
Applications opened from the 25th June 2024 until the 10th July 2024. No late applications will be considered. Right of admission reserved.
Interview Dates:
Interviews will be conducted from the 15th July 2024 until the 17th July 2024.
