Ahmad Jamal
1930-2023

Jamal was an eminent leader in the jazz world, both as an educator and at the head of small ensembles. He will forever be remembered for his large discography, notably Live at the Pershing: But Not For Me, which brought him international fame. His grounding in both jazz and classical influenced all manner of musicians. Miles Davis once said he was floored by Jamal’s “concept of space, his lightness of touch, his understatement.”
