Pentagon College would like to inform all students that the Engineering students will be undertaking an educational observational trip to Tharisa Mine in the North West Province from Tuesday 25 August to 28 August 2026.
The trip forms part of the College’s efforts to expose students to real-world industry environments and practical applications of classroom knowledge. During the visit, the Engineering students will have an opportunity to observe mining operations, engineering processes, machinery, equipment, maintenance practices and workplace safety procedures.
This observational experience is particularly important because it will enable the students to:
1. Connect theoretical knowledge with practical engineering applications.
2. Gain exposure to a real mining and industrial environment.
3. Observe the use of engineering machinery and technology.
4. Develop a better understanding of workplace health and safety practices.
5. Interact with professionals working in the mining and engineering industry.
6. Gain valuable insight into possible career opportunities within the engineering sector.
7. Appreciate the importance of professionalism, discipline and teamwork in the workplace.
The trip also demonstrates Pentagon College’s commitment to providing students with meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom and preparing them for the demands of the workplace.
The College wishes the Engineering students a safe, educational and memorable trip. Students attending the trip are reminded that they will be representing Pentagon College and are therefore expected to uphold the College’s values and maintain professional conduct throughout the visit.
