πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡² THE FUTURE OF ZAMBIA IS DIGITAL. BUT HOW DO WE BUILD IT TOGETHER?

In his address at the opening of the 14th National Assembly, President Hakainde Hichilema emphasised a clear national ambition: the future of Zambia is digital.

This is more than a technology agenda. It is an opportunity to transform our economy, strengthen our industries, empower entrepreneurs and create sustainable jobs.

But achieving this ambition requires one fundamental shift in how we work:

We must move from working in silos to building connected ecosystems.

While SMART Zambia Institute plays an important role in public-sector digital transformation, Zambia's wider digital ambition must connect government with businesses, entrepreneurs, technology companies, investors, universities, innovation hubs and industry.

Each has a role to play.

β–ͺ️ Government provides enabling policies, infrastructure and appropriate regulation.

β–ͺ️ Businesses invest in technology, improve productivity and create economic value.

β–ͺ️ Entrepreneurs and innovators develop solutions to Zambia's real-world challenges.

β–ͺ️ Investors and financial institutions support viable enterprises and innovations with appropriate capital.

β–ͺ️ Universities and training institutions develop skills, research and commercially relevant knowledge.

β–ͺ️ Industry associations and innovation hubs connect people, ideas, markets and opportunities.

The opportunity is not to duplicate existing institutions or create unnecessary structures. It is to connect existing capabilities, strengthen partnerships and align initiatives around shared national outcomes.

For the Grow Zambia Agenda, digital transformation must go beyond digitalising public services. It must also enable Zambian enterprises to develop technology, apply Artificial Intelligence, modernise industries, commercialise innovations and compete in regional and international markets.

We should measure progress not only by the digital platforms...full article in comments below πŸ‘‡
