Our week of camping has officially begun at Firm Foundation Country School, and what a powerful opening night it has been!

What an incredible experience for our students as they travelled to Beijing, China, combining education, culture, adventure and unforgettable memories.

From 3–7 August, our students had the opportunity to explore some of China’s most fascinating places and experience the richness of its history and culture.

A GLIMPSE AT THEIR JOURNEY:

3 August – Arrival
Our students arrived safely in Beijing and began their exciting adventure.

4 August – Embassy Visit & Cultural Exploration
The day included a visit to the Embassy, Universal studio followed by exploring the magnificent Temple of Heaven and an educational visit to the Bee Museum

5 August – The Great Wall of China
A truly unforgettable day! Our students visited the Great Wall, while also enjoying various places of interest along the way. What a wonderful opportunity to see history come alive

6 August – Bullet Train Adventure to Tianjin
Our students experienced the excitement of travelling by bullet train to Tianjin! They visited the library, enjoyed the big wheel, and explored various places of interest before returning to Beijing in the evening.

7 August – Pearl Market & More Exploration
The final day included a visit to the famous Pearl Market, giving our students an opportunity to experience some shopping and enjoy more of the sights and sounds of Beijing.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to our dedicated teachers and staff who accompanied and guided our students throughout this journey. Your commitment, care and sacrifice made this experience possible.

As we wrap up another exciting school term, our learners are putting their knowledge into practice through hands-on practical lessons.

This week, our Agriculture, Building, and Plumbing students are showcasing the skills they have developed throughout the term. From cultivating crops and mastering construction techniques to learning essential plumbing skills, these practical sessions are preparing our learners for real-world opportunities.

At Firm Foundation Country School, we believe in learning by doing—equipping every child with knowledge, confidence, and practical life skills for the future.

At Firm Foundation Country School, our students are at the heart of everything we do.

From interpreting architectural drawings to participating in daily site meetings with contractors, our learners are gaining firsthand insight into how exciting projects come to life.

Today, one of our Form 2 students proudly takes us on a tour of our new Administration Block, showcasing not only the progress of the building but also the confidence, leadership, and practical learning opportunities that make Foundation Country School unique.

We believe that education extends beyond the classroom. By involving our students in real-world experiences, we are preparing them to become thoughtful leaders, problem-solvers, and innovators.

Practical Learning Beyond the Classroom

At Firm Foundation Country School, we believe the best learning happens through real-life experiences.

Last week, our students had the opportunity to gain practical exposure to dairy farming, cattle fattening, and farm machinery operations as part of our commitment to hands-on education. These experiences help our learners develop valuable skills while connecting classroom knowledge with the real world.

As we continue expanding our practical learning program, we are looking for a small-scale miner in the Chegutu or Selous area who would be willing to host our students for an educational visit. The aim is to introduce them to responsible small-scale mining practices, mining operations, safety procedures, and the opportunities within Zimbabwe’s mining sector.

If you are a small-scale miner or know someone who may be interested in partnering with us to inspire the next generation, we would love to hear from you.

Our School Cycling Club proudly combined fitness with community service by completing a 20 km cycling and environmental clean-up campaign around Firm Foundation Country School.

Our students demonstrated that every small action can make a big difference in protecting our environment while promoting healthy lifestyles and responsible citizenship.
