💔🕊️NOTICE OF THE PASSING ON OF THE REFORMED CHURCH UNIVERSITY STUDENT💐

It is with profound sadness that the Reformed Church University announces the passing of Melbarmore Makuvise who departed on the 24th of July 2026. She was pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree in Inclusive Education and had just completed her third year.

The Reformed Church University Council, Management, staff and the entire students, extends its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved Makuvise family, friends, classmates and all those affected by this loss. During this difficult time, we stand together in mourning and offer our thoughts and prayers to the family.

The University encourages members of the RCU community to continue supporting one another with compassion and respect as we grieve the loss of our fellow student.

• Application forms can be obtained from the RCU Shop in Masvingo CBD (Next to AgriBank) or from the Main Campus (Along Masvingo/ Bulawayo Road, 7KM from Masvingo CBD) and Harare Campus (3932 Jabavhu Drive, Machipisa, Highfield) or maybe downloaded from the University Website: www.rcu.ac.zw and submitted together with Certified copies of a: National ID/ Passport, Birth Certificate, Academic Certificates (eg: ‘O’ & ‘A’ Levels or other), proof of payment of a non-refundable Application Fee of USD $10 for Undergraduate, USD $15 for Postgraduate/ Master, USD $20 for International Students/ Applicants and/or other relevant qualifications.

The Reformed Church University’s (RCU) Inclusivity Department yesterday hosted a career guidance session at the RCZ Margaretha Hugo (Copota) School of the Blind. Led by Dr. N. Mudzingwa, the RCU Director of Inclusivity and Mr. E. Ndlovu, the Dean of the Faculty of Education and Social Sciences, the visit aimed to shatter limitations and build solid self-esteem among the visually impaired students as they prepare for life beyond school.

The atmosphere screamed inspiration as RCU team members shared their own lived experiences as highly successful professionals living with different abilities. Addressing the students, Dr. Mudzingwa delivered a resonant message on self-worth, reminding them that wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are and emphasising that confidence is the best face you can wear as a visually impaired person.

Adding to the gravity of the session, Mr. Ndlovu, who is a proud former student of the Copota School of the Blind, offered a deeply personal and candid perspective on transitioning into society. He urged the students to look at their current environment not as a permanent cushion, but as a launching pad, sharing that while Copota provides a great environment preparing them for a better tomorrow, the world outside requires them to stand firm and gain as much self-esteem, knowledge and education as possible.

The session concluded with an interactive segment where students eagerly engaged with the university panel to explore diverse career choices and map out their future academic paths. By centering the voices of those who have successfully paved the way, the RCU Inclusivity Department left the students of Copota with the ultimate reminder that with confidence, you have won before you have started.

In an era where knowledge is the ultimate currency, Reformed Church University (RCU) has equipped its academic staff with tools to trade with globally. The university today hosted a capacity-building workshop designed to assist RCU academic lecturers and researchers in mastering the ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) platform for enhanced research and digital publication visibility.

The training session was officially opened by RCU University Librarian, Mr. M. Sibanda, who emphasised the critical need for local research to leave a digital footprint. To bridge the gap between creation and global discoverability, the workshop's main facilitator, Librarian Nyabadza from the Great Zimbabwe University Medical Library, took the lecturers through practical, hands-on sessions.

The interactive seminar focused on demystifying the site, navigating the registration process and demonstrating how the digital identifier eliminates author ambiguity while seamlessly connecting RCU research output to the international academic community. By empowering its faculty to secure their digital academic identities, RCU is ensuring its institutional knowledge is not just produced, but globally recognised.
