Join the French Center of Excellence for a lecture with Erin Shevaugn Schlumpf, Associate Professor of Film Studies at Ohio University, as she explores the relationship between national trauma, feminist refusal, and historical erasure.

Schlumpf will examine the works of Nathalie Sarraute and Chen Ran, exploring how affective exhaustion and anti portraiture can serve as forms of feminist refusal and challenge historical erasure in post traumatic periods in France and China.

Join us for the Autumn 2026 CLLC Pedagogy Advancement Series workshop with Dr. Eric Johnson, Associated Faculty in the Department of French and Italian!

Explore how narrative video games can create immersive, interactive opportunities for language learning. The workshop will feature a live demonstration using Alba: A Wildlife Adventure and explore how gameplay can support communication, vocabulary acquisition, and meaningful target language interaction in the classroom.

What happens when you put a Mexican-American museum of images—calaveras, cartoons, movie stars, racist tchotchkes, Hollywood stereotypes, Mexican superheroes, pop detritus, and the beautiful wreckage of American visual culture—on a table in Columbus, Ohio, in the middle of Hispanic Heritage Month and just before Día de los Mu***os?

Things get weird. And that is precisely the point.

In this illustrated, irreverent, occasionally deranged lecture, Profe William “Memo” Nericcio returns to Ohio State with MEXTASY, his traveling pop-up exhibition devoted to the pleasures, perversities, stereotypes, fantasies, and hallucinations that have shaped the image of Mexico and Mexicans in the American imagination.

Bring your ghosts. Bring your stereotypes. Bring your questions. MEXTASY will bring the calaveras.
