In the past, time capsules were filled with personal mementos and trinkets chosen to capture a moment in time, then sealed away for future generations to discover.

But in a modern digital world, what does a time capsule look like?

Plekhanov University’s time capsule was not a box buried beneath the ground and left for decades, but a holographic message from the Plekhanovites of today: a reflection of our community, our pride in our 120-year legacy, and our hopes and wishes for the generations of tomorrow.

Islam_Makhachev , the UFC welterweight champion and #1 fighter in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings, has joined Plekhanov University as a master’s student.

For more than a decade, Makhachev has built one of the most remarkable records in mixed martial arts. A professional since 2010, our student has amassed an incredible 29 victories in 30 fights and risen to become a two-division UFC champion.

At the height of his fighting career, he is bringing that same commitment and dedication to his academic journey. His decision to continue his education is a powerful example for young people everywhere: achievement is not a finish line, and there is always another challenge worth taking on.

Plekhanov University is proud to welcome him to its community and to support him as he continues to grow and pursue excellence beyond the arena.
