Bath Spa University–RAK Campus Expands Global Impact via WURI Recognition and RMMC Collaboration

​Ras Al Khaimah, UAE — Bath Spa University–RAK Campus (BSU–RAK) continues to strengthen its global presence through international innovation recognition and academic collaborations.

​At the 2026 World University Ranking for Innovation (WURI) Global Conference in Deggendorf, Germany (Sept 23–25), BSU–RAK earned recognition across three categories for its innovative, student-centered programs. Dr. Jamal D. Magantor, Head of Research and Global Impact and lead writer of BSU–RAK's WURI submissions, was also elected to the 7-member Board of Directors of WURI Leaders.

​Alongside this achievement, BSU–RAK Campus welcomed a delegation from the Philippines' Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges (RMMC) to explore strategic collaborations in joint research, faculty and student mobility, and academic development.

​Together, these milestones reinforce BSU–RAK’s commitment to driving innovation, cross-border knowledge exchange, and expanded global opportunities for its academic community.

BSU RAK Filipino Students Strengthen Cultural Identity and Global Citizenship

On 15 September 2026, Bath Spa University - RAK Campus Filipino students participated in a special lecture hosted by the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai on the 2016 Arbitral Award, UNCLOS, and the promotion of peaceful dialogue and international cooperation.

The activity provided students with a meaningful opportunity to deepen their understanding of Philippine maritime affairs while strengthening their connection to Filipino culture, national identity, civic awareness, and heritage. Beyond the lecture, students were also introduced to an essay-writing competition, encouraging them to reflect critically, express their perspectives, and engage more deeply with the themes of national identity, diplomacy, cooperation, and responsible citizenship.

For Filipino students studying in the UAE, the experience helped strengthen their sense of belonging and connection to their home country while developing greater global awareness and appreciation for diplomacy, peaceful engagement, and international collaboration.

The initiative supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, through the promotion of global citizenship, cultural awareness, critical thinking, and experiential learning. It also contributes to SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions by strengthening students’ appreciation of peaceful international cooperation, diplomacy, and the rule of law, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through meaningful collaboration between BSU RAK and the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai.

From cultural identity to critical thinking and global citizenship, BSU RAK continues to create student experiences that are inclusive, relevant, culturally enriching, and socially impactful.

BSU–RAK Campus Unveils Commemorative Plaque

Bath Spa University–RAK Campus unveiled a commemorative plaque at its new campus on 5 September 2026,reflecting the university’s continued growth and preparations for its future transition to the new location.

The unveiling was led by H.E. Dr Sheikh Majid Bin Saeed Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Bath Spa University–RAK Campus, Sharanjit Leyl, Chancellor of Bath Spa University; and Dr Raja Sajjad Hussain, Chief Executive Officer of Bath Spa University–RAK Campus, whose names were also inscribed on the commemorative plaque.

The ceremony served as a symbolic celebration of the progress of the university and its continuing commitment to providing students, faculty, and staff with an environment that supports learning, collaboration, and academic development.

Proud Moments, New Beginnings: BSU–RAK Campus Marks its 8th Graduation Ceremony

Pride, achievement, and new beginnings took centre stage as Bath Spa University–RAK Campus celebrated its 8th Graduation Ceremony, bringing together graduates, families, faculty, university leaders, distinguished guests, and industry partners for one of the most significant occasions in the university calendar.

Held at the Grand Hyatt Dubai, the ceremony honoured the Class of 2026 and celebrated the culmination of years of academic commitment, perseverance, and personal growth. The programme brought together university leadership from the RAK and UK campuses, reflecting the strong academic partnership that continues to shape the student experience.

The ceremony featured addresses from university leaders and distinguished guests, including H.E. Dr Sheikh Majid Bin Saeed Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Bath Spa University–RAK Campus and President of the Ruler’s Court of Ajman; Dr Raja Sajjad Hussain, Chief Executive Officer; Ms. Sharanjit Leyl, Chancellor of Bath Spa University;Prof. Georgina Andrews, Vice-Chancellor of Bath Spa University; and H.E. Alfonso Ferdinand A. Ver, Philippine Ambassador to the UAE.

At the heart of the celebration was the conferment of degrees and awards to graduates from postgraduate and undergraduate programmes in Business and Management, Cyber Security, Creative Computing, and Psychology. Each name called and each graduate crossing the stage represented a journey shaped by determination, learning, and the support of families and the university community.

The celebration also recognised the partnerships and individuals who have contributed to the university community.

More than a ceremony, the 8th Graduation marked a transition—from university life to new professional and personal journeys. For the Class of 2026, it was a moment to look back with pride and step forward with confidence, carrying with them the experiences, friendships, and aspirations formed at BSU–RAK Campus.

Call for Papers | ICGICSF 2026

We are pleased to invite researchers, academics, practitioners, and policymakers to the 6th International Conference on Global Innovation and Collaboration for a Sustainable Future (ICGICSF), taking place on 10–11 December 2026 at Bath Spa University – RAK Campus, UAE.

This year’s conference explores the theme “Interaction of Technologies, Human Behavior, and Business Strategy for Sustainable Growth.”

A key highlight of ICGICSF 2026 is the publication opportunity: papers presented at the conference will be published in the Advances in Intelligent Systems Research series by Atlantis Press (part of Springer Nature). The published proceedings will also be submitted for indexing in the Web of Science Conference Proceedings Citation Index (CPCI), subject to acceptance.

Paper Submission Deadline: 21 September 2026
