Dear members,

It has been a tough year for all the Syrians everywhere. As the year started, the impact might had not been as deep as it is today. Good times have quickly passed upon our dear, dear Syrian club. And for those moments, we are grateful for being here with all of the Syrians in the American University of Sharjah. At times, we all got excited, motivated, emotional, angry, defensive, and maybe aggressive. True, but somehow it all comes from our agreement on our love for Syria.

Our board had a number of events planned, but not completed. Reason? Mainly the university was hesitant to agree on discussing controversial issues. The Syrian play, the Syrian music concert, and the documentary were all projects that were ready, but hesitant. Even when the university would agree, we would not want to "speak until we can improve the silence."

We, the current SCC board, wish the absolute best to the new board. We hope you do yet a better job at handling those differences in viewpoints, and bringing all of us, Syrians, back where we belong: together.

تعازينا لأهلنا في سوريا,.. و تعازينا لقلوبنا التي تبكي سوريا كل يوم.

on behalf of the Syrian Cultural Club board

Hello,

We extend our condolences and deep sympathy for all the families in Syria. Everyone suffering represents our brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, relatives and friends.

The profit of the Syrian Play tickets will go as donations for the Syrian families , which makes the hard work of our cast and crew more meaningful.

Another event, to be announced soon, will also sell tickets to use them as donations.

We wanted to share with you that we ARE working to help Syria, and that we DO care.

Our choice not to use any flags this semester came as a collective decision of a number of people. Even though our emotions might dictate different/ varied feelings about this issue, but as a formal entity in the American University of Sharjah, we are OBLIGED to be NEUTRAL.

Please understand our viewpoint, and come to US with your ideas.
