Computer Science faculty of Herat University had begun its activities in form of computer department in Science and Technology Islamic University but due to recent developments in the field of Information Technology and rapid growth in the country attracted many enthusiasts. Increasing the number of applicants caused for new problems in this department so, Ministry of Higher Education decided to t

erminate the Science and Technology Islamic University from 2004 and restart it under Herat University structure with the help of TU-Berlin (Technical University of Berlin) in the same year. This faculty has 18 formal lecturers in 3 departments (Software Engineering, Management Information Systems and Network and Communication) in 2013 with 464 students who are studying in different semesters [111 of them are females], Modern library and 4 computer laboratories that is equipped with 60 PCs with Internet connection and a football team are some of facilities that provides to the students freely.

کسب مقام چهارم پوهنتون هرات در کنفرانس «استفاده از هوش مصنوعی برای توسعه پایدار افغانستان»

کنفرانس «استفاده از هوش مصنوعی برای توسعه پایدار افغانستان» به ابتکار پوهنتون جهان در مرکز کشور برگزار گردید. در این کنفرانس علمی، نمایندگان پوهنتون‌های دولتی و خصوصی اشتراک نموده و پیرامون نقش هوش مصنوعی در پیشرفت و توسعه پایدار افغانستان، مقالات علمی خویش را ارائه و مورد بحث و تبادل نظر قرار دادند.
در جریان این کنفرانس، استادان پوهنحی کمپیوتر ساینس پوهنتون هرات با ارائه مقالات علمی در حوزه کاربردهای هوش مصنوعی، موفق به کسب مقام چهارم در میان پوهنتون‌های اشتراک‌کننده گردیدند. این دستاورد، بیانگر تلاش‌های مستمر علمی و تحقیقی این نهاد اکادمیک در عرصه فناوری‌های نوین می‌باشد.
