Das VMI-Vienna Music Institute ist seit 1999 auf die professionelle Ausbildung von angehenden MusikerInnen spezialisiert und zählt mittlerweile zu den größten Bildungseinrichtungen für Jazz- und Popularmusik in Österreich. Das Institut, das seinem Status nach als "Privatkonservatorium mit Öffentlichkeitsrecht" geführt wird, bietet nicht nur ein umfangreiches Kursprogramm an, sondern auch staatlich

anerkannte und z. Darüber hinaus verfügt das VMI über eine große Anzahl an international tätigen Dozenten und hält in regelmäßigen Abständen Seminare, Workshops und Clinics mit internationalen Stars der Musik-Branche ab. Zielsetzung ist es, talentierten MusikerInnen eine professionelle und praxisnahe Ausbildung zu ermöglichen. Aufgrund der ausgewogenen Lehrpläne und einzigartigen Unterrichtskonzepte, die eine Kombination aus fundiertem theoretischen Wissen und systematischen Instrumental- bzw. Gesangsunterricht beinhalten, werden die Studierenden mit den umfangreichen Möglichkeiten der modernen Musik vertraut gemacht, um anschließend als gut ausgebildete MusikerInnen auf die unterschiedlichen Tätigkeitsfelder der Musikbranche vorbereitet zu sein.

In 90 minutes, we’ll take a quick dive into rights, money, deals, labels, audiences and the rules of the music business — plus a few myths that probably won’t survive the session.

In this VMI Spotlight Interview, we introduce VMI alumna Alina Peter. She studied Instrumental (Vocal) Pedagogy as well as Vocal Performance at VMI, graduating in 2022. As the founder and frontwoman of the female-fronted dialect pop band Fräulein Peter, Alina has forged her own artistic path, combining a distinct musical identity with personal expression.

In the interview, Alina shares insights into her musical journey, her experiences, and her career after graduating from VMI. She talks about her development as a musician, her work with Fräulein Peter, and the experiences and milestones that have shaped her journey so far.

As this summer semester comes to an end, we had the pleasure of celebrating the achievements of our graduating students at the official VMI Diploma Awarding Ceremony.

We would like to congratulate all graduates on successfully completing this important chapter of their musical and academic journey. Their dedication, perseverance, and artistic growth have brought them to this milestone, and we are proud to celebrate this achievement with them.

The VMI Final Concerts took place at Vienna's renowned Porgy & Bess, where our graduating students presented the results of their artistic development. Two amazing ensembles led by Conrad Schrenk and Simon Raab, performed a varied selection of songs, demonstrating their musical skills, creativity, and individuality.

The concerts were well received by the audience, who enjoyed the performances and celebrated the students’ achievements. For our graduates, these concerts marked the successful completion of an important stage in their studies and provided a fitting opportunity to share their work on one of Vienna’s most respected jazz stages.

Congratulations to all students and everyone involved in making the VMI Final Concerts a success.

Last Monday, our students from the Electronic Music & Sound Design program had the unique opportunity to visit Club Praterstraße and dive deep into the world of professional club sound systems.🔊

A huge thank you to Wolfgang Sauter, founder and CEO of Pro Performance Audio, who designed and implemented the club's outstanding sound system. During an inspiring workshop, Wolfgang Sauter shared valuable insights into acoustics, sound system design, planning, and the functionality of high-end club installations.

Beyond the theory, students were able to experience something truly special: listening to their own productions on one of the finest club sound systems available today. The sound system at Club Praterstraße is widely regarded as one of the highest-quality club installations in Austria and far beyond.

Thank you to Wolfgang Sauter and Pro Performance Audio for sharing your expertise and making this unforgettable learning experience possible.
