After a great closing Party at the RoboCup 2024 and a rather short
night of sleep, we attented the RoboCup Symposium. Besides presenting our poster on our light weight simulator for the RCLL, we also to talk to fellow RoboCuppers. But this also marks the end of this years RoboCup season. But as you know, after the RoboCup is before the RoboCup ;)

Further good news, we won the Open Challenge this year, making this again a perfect RoboCup season for us, winning the German Open, the RoboCup in Eindhoven and the Open Challenge - all the awards we aimed to get.

This year's Open Challenge presentation consisted of two parts. First an AR system, that helps the teams set up the game field. This should not only speed up the process but also prevent errors while placing the machines. Furthermore, the application also shows additional content for visitors of the Logistics League to make the games more engaging and interesting. The AR application is part of a master thesis done at the Advanced Mixed Reality Interfaces Lab TU Graz. Next, we showed new developments on our High-Level Simulation. We created a helm chart that allows to quickly set up the RCLL simulation in a Kubernetes cluster. This enable teams to simulate a lot of games. Unfortunately, we learned that not all our software components (refbox & simulator) are stable enough yet to run them 24/7.

But we will continue to work on it so that next year we finally can
have a simulation challenge in the RCLL to answer the old question of who has the best planning.

GRIPS did it! For the first time we were able to defend the world championship title. After a strong first day (winning all three round robin games with close to 200 points, we (most probably) were qualified for the finals. Therefore, we had the chance to test new developments on the whole gamefield. Of course, this means higher risks and we paid the price for it by losing the fifth qualification game. Last game, last fixes, last chance to test. Starting of strong into the game, we managed to gather fantastic 465 points. As far as we know, this was the highest points scored in an official RoboCup Logistics game!

In total, we produced:
3 x C3
2 x C1
1 x C0

The finals today started with the small final for the 3rd place, where team Solidus from Switzerland was playing against PYRO from france. Solidus managed to win two games in a row (both times they delivered a C3) making 3rd place.

After some setup complications, we were able to win the first game of the best of three finals with 340:94. The MPS already caused some issues, but we were not aware of what we would experience afterwards. The second match must be replayed four or even five times due to a variety of problems. At the end, we ran out of time so the 2nd and 3rd final game was cancelled and GRIPS won the tournament. The win was bitter sweet, but after a good first win in the finals and a strong performance over the whole period of the tournament, there were clear indications which team was dominating the event.

Now, we are totally excited to see this years trophy and bring back the 3rd world championship title to Graz.

Stressful start at the RoboCup 2024. Since we all are tech-lovingpeople we did not read the fine print that the setup days already start
on Monday. We arrived Tuesday evening and missed nearly 2 of the 3
dedicated setup days. Slightly tired we started doing what we do best,
preparing our stuff for the competition. Our competitors already
asked if we are that sure of winning, taking cheat days right away.
Nevertheless, we managed to qualify for the main track on our first
challenge we drove yesterday. Parallel to this we tested the new
gripper interface and got feedback for our new AR system. This year 4
teams qualified for the main track, so today and tomorrow are round-robin games were we play 3 games each day. We had a good start
winning our first game 199:0 against Solidus. Next we played against PYRO and won 197:0. The final game was against Carologistics which we were also able to win 240:22!

Nevertheless, we took the
time to also stroll around a little on the venue to see what all the other participants are up to. Looking forward for the next games tomorrow, hoping that we can keep up with our good performance!

It's that time of the year again. The RoboCup Season 2024 starts at the German Open, which takes place from the 17th to the 20th of April in Kassel. For the first time since Covid, all major teams are coming together to compete for glory in the various leagues.

A rainy start and some adventeruos driving conditions in Styria (2 days after the 30 degree temperature high) accompanied us on our trip to the venue. After the exhausting journey we spent our first evening by strolling through Kassel and coming up with a battle plan for the upcoming week.

Day one was characterized by setting up our workplaces and getting the robots up to speed again. On day two we managed to complete the mandatory challanges to take part in the final brackets.

For the final days we are looking forward to tense games and most important to connect with other young engeeniers from all around Europe.

22 Start-Ups and Scale-Ups from the Graz region will have 8 min. each for their presentation, followed by buffet and get-together at the company booths. In total these companies will have more than 350 positions, study-related jobs or master's thesis topics to offer in the near future. Many of them are world market leaders and award winners, including "kununu Top Company", „Red Dot Design Award“, „Energy Globe“. We did it. After an exciting and tense first match, we also managed to win the second game: Thats 2:0 to GRIPS and the World Championship 🏆🥇.

Great news, we managed to win the first game of the final day with a score of 197:102. So the next game is matchball for us 😳

After a stressful morning we managed to win the first 2 qualification games of today. After a rather weak first game with 18 Points we scored 181 in the second💪 Our next game is at 16:00!

Finally we fixed all our Grippers and and were able to play games with all 3 Robots. We hope that we will manage tomorrow to qualify for the finals on Sunday!

Finally some news from us from the RoboCup in Bordeaux. Since one of our Robots broke down just days before the Competition, the setup days were quite stressful.

Today morning we finally got the gripper of the 3rd Robot working again, thanks to the sensors our sponsor Knapp provided us on such a short notice. But next time we should take a closer look at the model numbers.

Btw: we manged to qualify for the full game!

We are excited to see if Pyro and Solidus will manage to do so today.

Great news from the RoboCup German Open 2023🇩🇪, we were able to defend our 1st place from last Year! 🎉

After a rough start with major navigation problems, we were able to win the last 3 Games today. We used the time in Aachen to play as much as possible with the full game environment to prepare for the RoboCup 2023 in Bordeaux, France. 🤖

Right after the start of the new semester, today two of our members got the chance to present our team and work to the rector's office of TU Graz. We are very thankful for all the support we get from the University and our sponsors.

We are organizing our trip to this year's German Open in Aachen and hope we can defend our 1st place there.
