Hiya! My name is Francesca and I am a bachelor student at the Technical University of Graz with a deep love for travelling. So, about four weeks ago, I left Austria behind and started my exchange semester in Glasgow. How exciting! Together with my friend Fabian, who is also studying at TU Graz, I am happy to take you along on my wee adventures in Scotland!
We’re now two among almost 25.000 students, including more than 4.000 international students, studying at the „University of Strathclyde“ (one of three Glaswegian universities). The high number of international students also explains why Glasgow is such a culturally diverse city.
Besides that, Glasgow is also the largest city in terms of size as well as in population in all of Scotland, even bigger than the capital Edinburgh. And I can confirm: It truly is one of the friendliest cities in the world!
But most importantly, Glasgow is now our new home and the place where we’ll make some of the best memories of our lives, I’m sure!
As you can see, Glasgow is many different things at the same time. There’s currently an exhibition at the Gallery of Modern Art in Glasgow covering exactly this topic. On the last picture you can see the city’s slogan back in 1990 when it was the cultural capital of Europe: There is a lot GLASGOWing on! That’s still true in 2026, so stay tuned for more posts of our adventures in Scotland!
