We are searching for designers and researchers to join our team!
There are three open vacancies at the Department Structure and Design - positions start in January 2017 (deadline for applications is 24.December 2016):
University Assistant - Doctoral Cand. (50 %), 4 Years - FOCUS DESIGN AND COMPUTATION
Tasks:
Conducting research and writing a doctoral thesis in the field of structure and design with a focus on computation and within the research field of the unit, e.g. feedback between analogue and digital processes, complex modelling strategies, deployment of self-organisation and material properties in design and fabrication, innovative basic research in structural systems, digital design and fabrication methods.
Teaching design courses and seminars which enable students to implement computational tools into their design processes.
Administrative tasks, such as organisation of exhibitions, contributing to publications.
Required qualifications:
University degree in architecture (Master or Diploma). Excellent skills in computational design tools (e.g. algorithmic modelling, scripting,…) and basic knowledge in complex modelling. Profound knowledge and expertise in architectural design and its interplay with performative and structural aspects. Pedagogic qualities and interest in passing knowledge and expertise to students. A profound understanding of contemporary architectural discourse is expected, such as an heightened interest in developing of innovative architectural strategies. Academic experience at an internationally recognised university or professional experience at an internationally recognised design practice is preferable.

Senior Scientist (50 %), 4 Years - FOCUS DIGITAL FABRICATION / ROBOTICS
Tasks:
Contributing to research projects conducted at the department with a focus on advanced digital fabrication and robotics.
Teaching seminars which enable students to implement robotic experimentation into their design processes.
He/She will be a key scientific personnel to further develop the robotic fabrication lab. The position is linking research in robotic experimentation with generative design courses and seminars.
Required qualifications:
University degree in architecture (Master or Diploma). Profound knowledge and expertise in architectural design and its interplay with structural aspects, materialisation and digital fabrication. Solid skills in advanced digital modelling and expertise in digital fabrication and robotics. Experience with handling and programming of industrial robots, experience in working on experimental set ups. A profound understanding of contemporary architectural discourse is expected, such as an heightened interest in developing innovative architectural strategies.

Senior Scientist (50 %), 4 Years - FOCUS PROTOTYPING
Tasks:
Contributing to research conducted at the department with a focus on advanced digital fabrication and 1:1 prototyping. Teaching design courses and seminars which enable students to understand the interdependency of design strategies, materialisation and robotic fabrication. He/She will be a key scientific personnel to further develop the robotic fabrication lab and help with the implementation of 1:1 prototypes.
Required qualifications:
University degree in architecture (Master or Diploma). Profound knowledge and expertise in architectural design and its interplay with structural aspects, materialisation and digital fabrication. Experience with handling and programming of industrial robots. Experience in working on 1:1 experimental structures and installations. A profound understanding of contemporary architectural discourse is expected, such as an heightened interest in developing innovative architectural strategies.

Please notice - the Austrian position of a Senior Scientist is not equivalent to the Anglo-american version. The gross salary in this category at 50% is currently € 1.348 brutto (14-times per year).
