Green Horizons Project Kicks Off!
The kick-off meeting of the Green Horizons project took place on 18 November 2025 at the University of Continuing Education Krems (UWK), Austria. The event brought together international partners from Austria, Poland, Italy, and Estonia, marking the official launch of this important European cooperation initiative.
The University of Continuing Education Krems (Universität für Weiterbildung Krems) serves as the coordinator of the project, with Kay Mühlmann and Liliya Satalkina as the UWK investigators. Funded under the Erasmus+ Programme – Cooperation Partnerships in Vocational Education and Training (KA220-VET), the consortium is particularly proud to have been selected in a highly competitive evaluation process.
The Green Horizons project has been developed in response to the growing need to enhance the competitiveness and resilience of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the face of environmental and technological transformation. To address these challenges, the project focuses on building the capacity of SMEs to implement greener and more innovative business practices, accelerating the green transition across Europe’s SME landscape. By equipping VET stakeholders with new skills and knowledge, the project contributes to Europe’s broader goals of sustainability, digital transformation, and competitiveness, with a particular emphasis on the Agri-Food sector. Through a comprehensive set of activities, Green Horizons will develop and implement a training scheme for SMEs and VET professionals, increasing awareness of the energy transition, circular economy, and climate-friendly practices. A central output will be an interactive digital educational platform, supported by open educational resources, innovative teaching materials, and sector-specific training content.
The meeting in Krems provided an excellent opportunity for all partners to align their visions, plan upcoming activities, and establish a shared framework for collaboration.
Over the next two years, the consortium will work together to advance the green transformation of Europe’s SMEs — building a more sustainable, competitive, and environmentally responsible future.
