🍷 From Paris with a passion for wine

What happens when hands-on learning meets one of the world’s most exciting wine cities? For students of the International Wine Business programme at IMC Krems, it can lead straight to Paris.

As part of an innovative marketing project, IMC lecturer Chris Sciacca and his students brought Austrian wine to the French capital – through the “Le Austrian Wine Pop-Up” during Wine Paris 2026.

🍷 The concept: transform a Parisian café into a wine shop for three weeks
🍇 The wines: over 50 Austrian wineries
🤝 The goal: connect new audiences with Austrian wine

The result speaks for itself:
✅ 413 bottles sold
✅ €10,000+ in revenue
✅ valuable connections with international traders, institutions and industry professionals

For students Anna-Lena Weigand and Laetitia Ferraton, it was more than a project – it was a real-world experience in international wine marketing:
“Many Austrian winemakers visited our pop-up – it was a great opportunity for networking.”

💡 And it doesn’t stop there: Another highlight of the programme is the Student Wine Fair, where students plan, organise and run their own wine stall – from concept and marketing to working directly with wineries and guests.

🌍 Studying International Wine Business at IMC Krems means gaining practical experience across borders – from Krems to Bordeaux to Paris. Through initiatives like the Budburst Agency, students work on real projects with regional wineries, testing innovative ideas from product development to branding.

👉 The takeaway: Sometimes, the best way to learn marketing is to do it – in real markets, with real customers.

Today, we would like to introduce Rebeka Kerin, student of our International Wine Business bachelor degree programme:

👋 “Hi! My name is Rebeka, I am 24 years old and originally from Slovenia. I am currently in my second semester of International Wine Business at IMC Krems.
I see myself as an eternal student, not only academically, but as a way of moving through life: curious, observant and always searching for meaning in people, places and experiences.

🌿 My background goes beyond wine. Urban planning and 15 years of scouting shaped my sense of community, space and nature, connections I now recognise in the world of wine.

Studying wine gives me tools and knowledge, but for me, the true essence of wine lives in experience, in moments and in people. Like art, wine is not only something to understand, but something to feel.

🍷 Through wine, I explore the connection between culture, place and people while creating something intangible: moments of presence.

I am drawn to people, art, nature and diversity, anything that allows exchange and reflection. I see IMC Krems as a space for growth where I can continue to develop this perspective further.

✨ Right now, I exist in a space between who I was and who I am becoming, not as a temporary phase, but as a constant state.

I do not know exactly where I am going, but I know how I want to move forward. I want to create, connect, contribute and remain in that in-between space where growth happens.”

🖼️ There’s something truly magical about a postcard. It freezes a single moment in a beautiful place and sends it out into the world. And Krems is exactly the kind of city that is meant to be remembered, celebrated and shared.

🏰 To capture its timeless charm, we’ve taken some of its most iconic spots and transformed them into postcards.

💌 Who would be the first person you’d send a postcard to from Krems?

🤝 What does international collaboration in the bachelor degree programme “Ergotherapie” look like?

🧳 Last week, 26 students from IMC Krems (6th semester) travelled to Berlin for an educational excursion. The focus was on international exchange, new perspectives on occupational therapy practice and reflecting together on the future of the profession.

🏥 Together with occupational therapy students from Wannseeschule, the students exchanged insights into the education systems in Austria and Germany and discussed career opportunities for occupational therapists in both countries.

🎓 In addition, an interprofessional exchange took place with occupational therapy and physiotherapy students at ASH Berlin. The discussions focused on opportunities for further academic education such as Master and doctoral programmes.

✨ Inspiring lectures encouraged the students to engage with important social issues: What role does ethics play in occupational therapy? How can occupational therapists contribute to combating discrimination and inequality?

🚀 Another highlight was the visit to the Futurium in Berlin. The students reflected on the future of occupational therapy and developed visions for equal opportunities, inclusion of people with diverse abilities, and the responsible use of AI and robotics in healthcare.

💬 A heartfelt thank you to Saskia Buschner (Wannseeschule) and Prof. Dr. Silke Dennhardt and Prof. Dr. Stefanie Schnabel (ASH Berlin) for making this exciting and inspiring exchange possible!

💡💙 Strengthening those who care

👩‍⚕️ Stefanie Lentner is dedicated to people who support others every day: informal caregivers. As an occupational therapist, researcher and PhD student at the Institute of Therapeutic and Midwifery Sciences at IMC Krems, she brings practice and science together to improve everyday life through evidence-based solutions.

🔬 Her project selfCARE focuses on meaningful activities that support wellbeing and identity. Together with caregivers and partners, Stefanie Lentner develops practical interventions that help prevent overload before it arises. The work combines research, real-life insights and active participation, making it highly relevant for the Austrian healthcare system.

🌿 After years in patient care, she moved into research via the CROB-Projekt at IMC Krems and now continues her PhD at the Institut für Pflegewissenschaft at Universität Wien. Driven by fairness and optimism, Stefanie Lentner shows how science can create real impact and lasting change.

🤾‍♂️Theory met practice: Physiotherapy students at UHK Krems training sessions

💪This May was all about physical performance. As part of an exciting collaboration, the Physiotherapy bachelor degree programme at IMC Krems worked together with the handball club Förthof UHK Krems.

🏐 Across four training sessions, the focus was on injury prevention for young players aged between 10 and 15. Each 90-minute session took place during regular training hours, with students leading targeted exercises in small groups. The young athletes rotated between stations, each concentrating on different areas of the body. Arms, legs, core stability and full-body combinations were all incorporated to strengthen the players’ resilience throughout the current season.

📢 The sessions followed the modern “hands-off” approach: our Physiotherapy students took an active role directly on the court — giving instructions, correcting movement patterns and professionally guiding the exercises. The sessions were supported by the UHK Krems coaching team as well as a lecturer from IMC Krems, allowing students to gain valuable practical experience for their future careers.

🎓At IMC Krems, combining theory and practice is standard. The connection between academic studies and elite sport is actively encouraged and supported.

🤝We would like to sincerely thank UHK Krems for the appreciative collaboration and the trust placed in our students. We are looking forward to everything that lies ahead!

🏆 From IMC Krems to where sport meets physiotherapy: supporting athletes on their path to success

For IMC Krems alumnus Mario Pöttinger, physiotherapy has always been more than a career choice – it’s a true vocation.

🤝 Today, he runs his own practice, MP Physio – Physiotherapy & Training in Stockerau, combining physiotherapy, training and coaching into one holistic approach. His guiding principle: lasting performance only develops when therapy and training work together.

🌏 Mario’s path has been shaped by both international and high-performance experience. A key moment during his studies was his placement in Australia, which fundamentally influenced his professional perspective. Since then, he has worked with elite athletes across disciplines – including Austria’s national weightlifting team and youth ice hockey players.

What defines his work is not just expertise, but mindset: He understands movement not only analytically, but physically. He listens, adapts, and works closely with each individual – whether elite athlete or everyday patient.

💬 “My goal is to support each person at the highest level and work together on sustainable solutions.”

From developing young talents to supporting top athletes, one thing remains central: trust, collaboration, and a long-term perspective on health and performance.

👋 Where personal interests can be connected with professional development

Ivonne is currently in the fourth semester of the Ergotherapie degree programme at IMC Krems.

🌱 Before starting her studies, she gained experience in different fields, including social care and agricultural sciences. Through occupational therapy, she found the opportunity to combine a passion for nature with working closely with people.

🌲 A special highlight of her studies was the Blended Intensive Programme “Empowerment through Meaningful Experiences in Nature”, which took place in Oulu, Finland. Together with students and lecturers from seven different countries, Ivonne spent a week in the forest exploring nature-based approaches in occupational therapy.

🌍 The international exchange and the opportunity to learn outside the traditional classroom were especially enriching for Ivonne. In addition, she discovered new perspectives that can later be integrated into professional practice.

🌞 In her free time, Ivonne loves being outdoors, working on creative projects and spending time with her dogs.

🎓 What Ivonne appreciates the most about studying at IMC Krems is the diversity within the study programme and the possibility to connect personal interests with professional development.
