🧭📊 : A semester in the middle of Europe rewired her career plans.

Jessica came to us as an exchange student from LAB University of Applied Sciences in Finland, where she studied International Business. She chose Krems for one reason: it sat in the middle of Europe. What she found stayed with her: the white wine, the nature, the calm and a town that always felt made for people.

Arriving early made her one of the first exchange students here, and the one who brought everyone together. She loved exchanging perspectives with people from Brazil, Ukraine and beyond. The friends she made from France, the Netherlands and Poland are still part of her life today.

Krems also shifted her direction. She discovered an interest in data analytics, a way to sharpen the creative work she already loved in marketing, PR, operations and management. Her advice is simple: arrive early, say yes to things and let the people and places surprise you.

🤝🎓 : 25 KSU students just graduated on our campus

Last week we celebrated the graduation of 25 students from King Saud University in Riyadh, who spent four weeks with us completing their Austrian Hospitality Training. Across 120 hours they combined theory on our campus with intensive practical training delivered by WIFI Niederösterreich in St Pölten, covering Austrian and international hospitality standards as well as the Saudi tourism market.

The training is the final practical component of the joint two-year Hotel Management Diploma. Before receiving their certificates, the graduates presented their own case studies on the Saudi tourism market. A five-month internship in Saudi Arabia comes next, followed by the workforce or further tourism studies at King Saud University.

"Celebrating the successful completion of this training programme on our campus is a powerful demonstration of our strong links with industry and our commitment to practice-oriented education," says Ulrike Prommer, CEO of IMC Krems. "By directly connecting these international students with leading Austrian companies, we create significant added value."

🔬🧪 Fifty teenagers turned our campus into a week of discovery

For one week, 50 young people aged 14 to 19 joined us for FIT4YOUniversity, exchanging the classroom for our lecture halls and labs. Across 28 lectures and workshops in business, health and science & technology, they explored what studying with us really looks like.

They printed in 3D, experimented in our biotechnology and chemistry labs, programmed computer games and developed sustainable ideas for tourism. Keynotes on artificial intelligence, reactor technology and regenerative medicine gave them a glimpse of the questions our researchers work on every day.

A special thank you to our organising team, Sabine and Bianca, whose planning made the week happen.

🌍🧡 : Three countries, one degree and a clear direction for Olivia

Olivia Hamisi is in her fourth semester of our Informatics bachelor degree programme, driven by a question she has carried since childhood: how do computers actually "think"? That curiosity led her into programming, AI and data science, and into a degree she chose for its practical, project-based approach and its focus on knowledge that holds up against real-world challenges.

Along the way, she took part in Blended Intensive Programmes in Deggendorf and León and spent an exchange semester in Heilbronn. Those experiences shaped friendships and connections she still values, and helped her grow both academically and personally in an environment full of different cultures and backgrounds.

This summer, Olivia begins an internship with Amazon in Berlin, a chance to gain hands-on industry experience and keep growing as a developer. Longer term, she is aiming for a master degree in quantitative finance and, eventually, a PhD as an applied researcher.

- "It's okay if it doesn't feel right at first."

Petra Blahútová, now in her third year of our International Business Management bachelor degree programme, spent her first months in Krems wondering if she'd made the wrong call. A new country and a new way of studying took time to get used to, and it was a few months before she found her own way.

What changed was the international side of the programme. With classmates from all over the world in every group project, Petra started to see what it was for. In her third semester she went on exchange to Nice, and in her fourth she worked at the Bratislava sales office of Groupe Bel, seeing where the theory from her courses held up in practice and where it didn't.

Her advice to anyone starting out: give it time, and don't underestimate the people you meet along the way. For Petra, they ended up mattering more than most of the achievements.
