nt Goal 12, and on the other hand it effectively contributes to the development of the European Higher Education Area complimentarily to Sustainable Development Goal 4. 👀 Managing a project is one of the most important skills researchers need. And yet they’re hardly ever thought how to actually do this. That’s why we invited researchers form 3 EURECA-PRO partner universities to Montanuniversität Leoben to train them in project management!

🚀 From drawing up a schedule and budget for a project, creating work packages all the way to forming a team. Our workshop participants learnt all of this in just 5 days.

🔬 A new species discovered by EURECA-PRO researchers—and 111 high school students helped make it happen!

🌍 Researchers from Universidad de León, Montanuniversität Leoben, and Université de Lorraine have discovered a previously unknown microalgal species during research on biodegradable plastics in freshwater ecosystems.

🤝 Through a unique citizen science project, 111 high school students actively contributed to data collection and environmental monitoring alongside researchers. Their contribution was so significant that the new species was named Craticula scientiacivica in honor of the initiative, with scientiacivica meaning "citizen science."

🌱 A powerful example of how international collaboration and hands-on science education can lead to real scientific breakthroughs.

What does it take to power an electrified world?

🌍 For one week, students from across Europe came together at the Spring School to tackle this question and rethink the future of electrification. 🔋

Hosted by Hasselt University, the programme combined expert lectures, hands-on workshops, industry visits, and interdisciplinary teamwork to explore how electrification can drive a more sustainable and circular future.

During the week, students dived into topics such as:

💡 AI and smart grids
🌊 Offshore energy
🏭 Smart industry and power conversion
♻️ Critical materials and circular design
☀️ Recyclable solar technologies

But the biggest lesson? The energy transition is not just about technology. It's about bringing together different perspectives, disciplines, and cultures to design smarter solutions for tomorrow.
