The SUMEX Sustainability Framework can provide extractive industry companies with a guide to what sustainability should mean. This can also be relevant for the due diligence of the whole mineral supply chain. 🌍

SUMEX has been working with its sister project RE-SOURCING Stakeholder Platform on how this links to the new OECD - OCDE Guidelines on Environmental Due Diligence in Mineral Supply Chains. 🌿

: One of the main takeaways from our session at the World Resources Forum was the importance of creating a level playing field throughout the entire raw materials value chain, also highlighted by Dumitru Fornea, European Economic and Social Committee / NTUC MERIDIAN Romania.

Our workshop underscored the importance of striking a balance between environmental protection goals and ensuring domestic access to and transformation of mineral raw materials in Europe. This equilibrium promotes fair competition across the entire value chain.

It was great seeing partners in Austria 🇦🇹 for the final SUMEX project meeting!

Our hosts from Montanuniversität Leoben prepared an exciting programme.

We reviewed the final steps that need to be taken for the successful completion of our project by the end of October and also had the chance to visit the Zentrum am Berg, the University's Underground Research Center, as well as Abenteuer Erzberg, Europe's most modern open-pit mine which we experienced up close.

Thanks to Michael Tost, Stefanie Streit, Karin Rehatschek and Myriam Amri for the warm welcome in Leoben!
