Egomaniac - Color the Night
Central to this song is the experience of q***r people whose voices are systematically silenced by ignorance and homophobia. It explores distorted perspectives, powerlessness and the pain that arises, as well as the mechanisms behind them: power, fear, coldness, vulnerability and hate. The video forgoes a traditional narrative, focusing instead on visualizing these emotions.

✨ Lisa Puchner (AT), Zeitbasierte und Interaktive Medienkunst

spininGround
“spininGround” is a playful exploration of the A1 highway and the perception of landscape, as well as a declaration of love for movement on the bike. Having fixed a camera to the spokes, a bike tour develops
as close as possible alongside the highway. The ambivalence of proximity and inaccessibility, omnipresence and non-place, is reflected in the video installation. While the rotating image shows a hypnotizing landscape, viewers have to pedal in order to catch a glimpse of ground.

Cyb3rD4wg5
Tired of being constrained by your flesh-prison? Of your meek and feeble human appendages? Of your lack of arms? Fear not! “Cyb3rD4wg5” is the solution for you—yes, you! Reach your full post-human potential with our state-of-the-art “Cyb3rD4wg5”! Grab yourself some hotdogs to your heart’s desire, and then grab even more—with the four arm-attachments from “Cyb3rD4wg5”! (Batteries not included.)

Press conference Ars Electronica Festival 2026 🎤

Brigitte Hütter, Rector of the University of Arts Linz: “The Ars Electronica Festival is an annual international focal point for innovative media art. For over two decades, the University of Arts Linz has been part of this spectacular event through its campus, serving as a platform for young artists and international partner universities."

While this year’s festival theme suggests that a future lies ahead, the Kunstuni Campus presentation poses the bold question: "At what cost?"

Flood the Zone with Courage Program at Linz Main Square 💚🩷

Selected Interface Cultures students are also taking part in this year’s Flood the Zone with Courage program at Linz’s Main Square. They are presenting projects that answer the program’s call for artists, activists, students and citizens to develop new forms of protest—performative, participatory and radically collective.

Saumil Bhandari (IN), Shared Act
A participatory kinetic sculpture driven by global conflict data. As violence escalates, structural support is continuously withdrawn, causing the sculpture to collapse. Only the physical intervention of passing strangers can restore and sustain it. The work proposes shared maintenance over automated mediation, suggesting that a common world is sustained through the continuous collective care of strangers.

Vlada Oleinik (AT), Nail Gainulov (AT), Into the air
Into the air is a technological and sound installation by m22. Infrasound and seismic waves generated by military explosions disrupt avian magnetoreception, causing birds to abandon their habitat. The object consists of three antenna-like structures connected by steel cables, reminiscent of the real-life objects birds use to perch upon. Each cable is fitted with transducers that translate seismic and infrasound data from
monitoring stations in Ukraine into audible and visible vibrations.

Carolina Sofia Bischof Carolina Sofia Bischof (AT), Carmen Daniela Cordoba Martinez (CO), At Least I’m Making Money

How financial systems profit from war At Least I’m Making Money is an interactive installation about how money, power and the arms industry uphold modern war. War is usually framed as a conflict between nations, such as the US vs Iran, Russia vs Ukraine or Israel vs Palestine, but this can hide other dimensions. For instance, war is also a financial event. These layers are often so abstract that we forget how they sustain modern war and geopolitical conflict. As systems collapse, the cost is counted in numbers, never in terms of the people paying for it.

Flood the Zone with Courage 💚🩷

this year on the main square (between the Neptune Fountain and the Trinity Column) is a joint project by Ars Electronica and the University of Arts Linz: A public container structure offers art and people an open space and a safe place where everyone can express their opinions and listen to the voices of both individuals and the collective. In this public intervention, look out for activist collaborations with partners such as Attac Österreich FIFTITU% and the „Flood the Zone with Courage“ initiative - which also involves Interface Cultures students presenting five projects and calls upon artists, activists, students, and visitors to develop new forms of protest that are performative, participatory, and radically collective.
