We had the incredible honor to perform Mozart’s most famous melody for the pope 🎶 made the opportunity even more special, as one of our violinists .pihusch got to play on Mozart’s original Dalla Costa violin 🎻 we’re sure everyone involved will be talking about this memorable day until the rest of their lives!

For the sixth time, students and faculty of our Early Music department came to Siena for a week of masterclasses and concerts at Accademia Chigiana Festival 🇮🇹🎶
One of this year’s highlights was a joint concert of our Baroque orchestra together with with Bach’s B minor mass.

As part of this special collaboration with Accademia Chigiana we’ve welcomed the choir from Siena in Salzburg last spring for the first joint performance of this piece as the finale of our Barocknacht. The whole concert is available to watch on our YouTube channel - enjoy!

Mozarteum goes Italy 🇮🇹

Together with Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg our Pre-College ensemble Ensemble Bella Musica Mozarteum🎻 will bring two of Wolfgang Amadé Mozart’s original violins on this year’s Italian tour. Some 250 years after Mozart himself visited Rome, Mozart’s extraordinary childhood violin and his concert violin, both from the collection of the International Mozarteum Foundation in Salzburg, will be heard in Rome next week. Highlights of the tour include a concert recording for Vatican Radio in the Vatican Gardens, an invitation to a general audience with Pope Leo XIV and a performance at the Forum Austriaco di Cultura Roma 🎶

Entdeckt THE LIVING ARCHIVE ✨
Mehr als 100 Jahre Festspielgeschichte werden zum Ausgangspunkt für etwas Neues: The Living Archive lädt dazu ein, Erinnerungen neu zu entdecken, zu hinterfragen und weiterzudenken.
In vier Projekten im neuen UMAK-Gebäude trifft Archivmaterial auf zeitgenössische künstlerische Praxis – von interaktiven und performativen Ansätzen bis hin zu Virtual Reality. Der geführte Rundgang eröffnet dabei einen besonderen Blick auf die Geschichte der Salzburger Festspiele, der weit über die Vorstellung eines klassischen Archivs hinausgeht.

From young children who practiced for days, to teachers, musicians of all levels or people who just happened to be around Mirabellgarten and spontaneously sang along - what a joy it was to witness everyone coming together to celebrate Mozart’s 270th birthday by performing his most famous melody 🎶

Das Claviorganum von Josua Pock stammt aus dem Jahr 1591 und ist das älteste noch bespielbare Instrument dieser Art. Erfahrt mehr über dieses sehr ungewöhnliche Instrument in unserem gestrigen Beitrag!

Danke an Florian Birsak-Hayer von der Universität Mozarteum Salzburg für die spannenden Einblicke und die musikalische Kostbrobe, und an Martin Pühringer, der ihn als Kalkant unterstützte!

Beim nächsten Besuch im Museum St. Peter im könnt ihr auch dem Klang lauschen: hierfür wurde eine Hörstation eingebaut.
