Hard to believe we’re already nearing the end of another study year 🤯 but we’re not slowing down just yet: June offers plenty of opportunities to see our students in action or learn something new!
As always, you can find the full overview of our events and all details on our website and in the event folders around campus.

P.S. There are plenty of study- and graduation-concerts so make sure to come and support our students and cheer them on for their final bow 🎉

Making sure our voices are being heard 🪧

Yesterday, around 2,500 people gathered in Salzburg to stand up for fair budgets and a secure future for Austria’s universities.

Together with protests in Vienna, Graz, Klagenfurt and Linz, we sent a strong signal against the proposed government budget cuts. Higher education is not a cost — it is an investment in our future.

We definitely made our voices heard. Now it’s time to listen.

Huge thanks to all the wonderful people who helped with organizing, the Moz Marching Band for the soundtrack and for capturing!

Our uniChor brought magnificent choral sound to the Dom zu Salzburg last week together with the Bad Reichenhaller Philharmonie and soloists from our vocal department 🎶
The program featured two impressive works from the choral and orchestral repertoire: “Dona nobis pacem” by the English symphonist Ralph Vaughan Williams - a piece rarely performed in our part of the world - and the “Messa di gloria,” an early work from 1880 by Giacomo Puccini, who is currently also featured in an exhibition in our foyer and our opera program.

At a time when the diversity of classical music is often overshadowed by a narrow canon of works, the annual Erika Frieser Chamber Music Festival deliberately provides a prominent platform for those pieces and their composers that are often overlooked, rarely heard, or never heard in this country.

In three concerts featuring various ensemble sizes, faculty and students from the Universität Mozarteum along with renowned guests impressively brought to life an enormous range of musical expressions. Now in its fourth year, the Erika Frieser Chamber Music Festival - conceived by Biliana Tzinlikova, the Institute for Chamber Music, and the Department of String and Plucked Instruments - has once again showcased the works of women composers, who remain underrepresented in concert programs, featuring ensembles ranging from duos to octets.

The festival is dedicated to Erika Frieser (1927–2011), who, between 1973 and 1995, was the first woman to hold a professorship in piano chamber music, vocal, and instrumental accompaniment at the Mozarteum.
