Last weekend, we hosted the Salzburg Comparative Syntax Workshop (SalCoS) and it was a huge success! The workshop was organized by Magdalena Lohninger, Franziska Keller, Anita Riedl and Caroline Gardner, invited speakers and discussants were Mark Baker, Doreen Georgi, Laura Kalin, Jonathan Bobaljik, Jutta Hartmann and Filipe Hisao Kobayashi.

Magdalena Lohninger will be teaching a course “Scientific Method and Theory in Linguistics” at V-NYI #12, a virtual summer school with certificate programs in Global Cultural Studies and Theoretical Linguistics, from June 24 to July 10. For more on the course see the video!

As members of the Generative Linguistics in the Old World (GLOW) board, Susi Wurmbrand and Magdalena Lohninger attended the 48th GLOW Colloquium in Siena. Magdalena also presented a poster (together with Yiannis Katochoritis (MIT)) on “Topic-to-subject grammaticalization: The case of Malayo-Polynesian pivots.”

PhD students and post-docs of the SFB Language between Redundancy and Deficiency gathered in Vienna to discuss their projects and collaborations. The PhD students from Salzburg, Anita Riedl and Franziska Keller, are right in the middle.
