Last week marked the end of the 27th Willem C. Vis Moot, a journey through 210 days of work, 5040 hours of dedication and 302 400 minutes of persistence.

This year’s Moot was held online, and that is what made our Vis Moot experience as unique as it couldn’t have been imagined.
We are happy that in these challenging times we still had an opportunity to compete with the teams from all over the world and become a part of international community despite of staying home.

Our team is very thankful to everyone who contributed to our achievements throughout our 6-month journey to the world of international commercial arbitration.

We are more than grateful to the experienced practitioners who dedicated their time and efforts to our preparation. Oleksii Maslov, Serhii Uvarov, Olena Gulyanytska, Mykola Antoniuk, Anna Kalabska, Alexandra Maximenko, Andriy Falendysh – thank you for being with us all the way to the ‘Virtual Vienna’.

Our participation in the 27th Vis Moot also could not be possible without support of the leading Ukrainian law firms and lawyers – Владимир Саенко (Vladimir Sayenko), Gramatskiy&Partners - Грамацкий и Партнеры, AVELLUM, Kinstellar, Mazur Ivanusa.

Throughout this half a year, we have learned to cherish every moment of the teamwork, to strive to accomplish more and to adapt to any new changes we were facing.

All of this has only strengthened our desire to keep on this track, so stay tuned!

Join the 2019/2020 Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv Vis Moot Team!

If you are a 1+ year student, have a good command of written and spoken English and are willing to acquire a great addition of skills to your studies - you are the one we are looking for!

Why Vis Moot is the best option for you? Well, the answer is simple.

1. You will upgrade both hard and soft skills.

The participation provides you with a unique opportunity to enhance your writing, argumentation and oral presentation skills. In only several months you will enhance your knowledge of legal English, which would be a great asset for your future career as a lawyer.

You will also have enough space to practice your team-working skills, since the overall result of the participation lies on the whole team.

2. Networking.

Vis Moot is a massive platform, where you may find not only professional contacts, but also friends for life. It is an exclusive chance to widen your list of friends on an international level.

3. Traveling.

No need to explain that one of the key features of Vis Moot is the possibility to attend pre-moots worldwide! Not only you will have a chance to see places you always wanted to visit, but also attend leading law firms, where the pre-moots will be held.

4. Having fun!

Last but not least, as the preparation process may be tiring, there will be lots of activities oriented at renewing your energy in every city you will visit.

5. Presenting your University proudly.

Of course, we shall not forget that besides the fun side of the Vis Moot, the important part is to present your University proudly on the international «arena».

26th Willem C. Vis Moot season has already finished and it’s time to recollect how incredible it was on a timeline.
🔷In May 2018 the team of four experienced and ambitious students was formed comprising of Alexandra Maximenko, Falendysh Andriy, Anna Kalabska and Leila Kazimi.
🔷Since May they all have been waiting for the first Friday in October, which is the release of the Problem.
🔷From October till January they worked hard on issues concerning law applicable to the arbitration agreement, contract adaptation, admissibility of evidence and hardship to submit their memoranda for claimant and respondent.
🔷From February onwards, the oral practicing rounds began. This year the team participated in the largest number of pre-moots in the history of the Moot Court Society of the Law Faculty, KNU.
🔺The first one was Ukrainian Vis Pre-Moott, where guys took second place and Leila Kazimi won the best oralist award!
🔺The second was Belgrade Open Pre-moot, where they had to compete with students from 88 teams.
🔺The last but not the least was CAM - CCBC Pre-Moot in Hamburg.
🔷During 12-18 April oral arguments in Vienna took place. Even though the team didn’t proceed to the qualifying rounds, they went up for 40 places compared to the last year. Such results are the best we had so far!
This couldn’t have been achieved without support and guidance of their coaches, Олексій Маслов (Oleksii Maslov) and Serge Uvarov. You are the best!
The team is also grateful for its financial supporters - AVELLUM and Sayenko Kharenko. Without their help, participation in several pre-moots could not be possible.
Looking forward to achieving even greater results next year as we are on the right track!
