Mayokun Akeremale currently works with the Agroecology team of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in Rome, Italy.

Her work at FAO is on Ecosystems approach to crop production intensification with focus on raising public awareness on the contribution of legumes to sustainable intensification of agricultural systems, food and nutrition security and environmental sustainability. One of such awareness is the World Pulses Day. A day designated for the purpose of promoting pulses and raising public awareness on the significant role pulses play in achieving the 2030 sustainable agenda.

During her masters in Organic Agriculture and Food Systems at the University of Hohenheim, she was part of a research project on “Do organic eggs from different farms have the same quality level?” where she contributed to discussions on accessing safe and wholesome food, and also evaluated the quality and quantity of food accessed by consumers aiming at an improved understanding of the point of intervention in the food value chain.

Further, Mayokun also spent a semester abroad at Warsaw University of Life Sciences where she did a research on SWOT analysis of organic food distribution channels based on IFOAM principles using an organic food store in Warsaw as a case study.

Moritz Egger is currently a master student and is conduction research on the of growing in the in Peru within the project AGROBIO-K_NOW (more: https://short.boku.ac.at/agrobio-knowe) supporting the Biosphere Reserve Oxapampa Asháninka Yánesha (Peru)) funded by in .

For data collection Moritz uses the Sustainability Monitoring and Assessment RouTine developed by (see https://www.fibl.org/en/themes/smart-en.html)

Moritz´s activities do not only include the collection of data, but also he is organizing workshops with all involved stakeholders for immediate feedback /debate of his research results to/with local counterparts / indigenous peoples

Preliminary results show, that the environmental integrity (agrobiodiversity, farm inputs, etc.) is quite well developed, but economic resilience, good governance and social well-being: need improvements even implemented partly already, e.g. insurance in case of accidents paid by cooperative, diversification of product range planned, role of women e.g. through own coffee brand to be strengthened.
