⭐ MOOT & GREET WITH OUR TEAM ⭐
CELINE MOSER (21)

Last but not least, we are proudly giving the floor to Celine Moser, the all-rounder in our team. Despite her young age, Celine is not only an award-winning athlete, but can also look back on multiple milestones in her legal career already. After internships at a state court, a tax consultancy and a charitable organisation, Celine has recently made the university her workplace when she started a new job as research assistant for Civil Law. 🏆
Besides putting her heart and soul into the current drafting process, Celine also operates as the team’s social media manager to keep you updated with all the breaking news from Sem 32. You wonder how she is able to reconcile all of this? When coming home after an exhausting day of work, Celine enjoys nothing more than a relaxing late night baking session (You definitely have to try her muffins!). 🥞🍪

We asked Celine a few questions about the Moot:

❓ Celine, why did you join the Vis Moot?
🎤 Primarily, I wanted to dive deeper into the topic of arbitration and international procedural aspects. On top of that, I wished to improve my legal English and my drafting skills.

❓ How is the Vis Moot different from other lectures?
🎤It’s such an honor to work so closely with renowned and dedicated professors, lawyers and coaches and such an amazing team. Furthermore, working together with awesome and enthusiastic people on such a huge project makes for tons of fun and many unforgettable memories!

❓ What’s your favourite Vis Moot habit?
🎤 I would have never believed how much fun and how many tears of laughter drafting could bring. But combining super productive research and writing sessions with a great team spirit has proved me otherwise.

⭐ MOOT & GREET WITH OUR TEAM ⭐
SILKE SCHUSSER (22)

For most students, taking part in the Vis Moot represents their first encounter with the field of arbitration. However, Silke Schusser discovered her passion for the subject much earlier! In fact, she is already a true arbitration expert: Not only does she work at the University’s Department for Civil Procedure setting a strong focus on Commercial Arbitration, she also applied her expertise to the client’s benefit during her time at a top tier arbitration firm in Vienna.
Having participated in the Austrian Antitrust Law Moot Competition last year, Silke also brings a wealth of experience to the team! On top of that, she even organised and hosted various Moot Competitions herself when serving as a board member of the European Law Students’ Association in Vienna. Although Silke is very busy with all her legal work these days, she still finds time to hit the ski slopes and to enjoy Austria’s snowy mountains. Being quite outgoing, she is thrilled at the prospect of meeting new people from different parts of the world. ⛷✈️

We asked Silke a few questions about the Moot:

❓ Silke, why did you join the Vis Moot?
🎤 Witnessing arbitration first hand while writing legal submissions and pleading on behalf of your clients is a one of a kind possibility during ones studies. It’s the people you get to work with and the people you are able to meet that make the Vis Moot truly special.

❓ How is the Vis Moot different from other lectures?
🎤 Having the possibility to learn from so many different experts in the field of International Commercial Arbitration all over the globe and working together with such a great and beyond dedicated team.

❓ What’s your favourite Vis Moot habit?
🎤 Late nights discussions (or online Mootie-Calls) with lots of laughs and coffee.

Stay tuned, you will moot & greet with the other team members soon! 🥳

⭐ MOOT & GREET WITH OUR TEAM ⭐
LAURA STICKLER (21)

For many participants, working and drafting in English poses a big challenge when joining the Vis Moot. However, this does not apply to Laura! Having spent semesters abroad in America and Thailand already, she had the great opportunity to perfect her impressive language skills even long before becoming a Mootie. By now, Laura has even completed her training as a certified English teacher.
Thus, she brings both linguistic and legal skills into our team! Speaking of the latter, Laura has already applied her knowledge in practice when working at different law firms. 📚
When not busy drafting Vis Moot Memoranda, you will either meet Laura in the Viennese vineyards or on the tennis courts, where she enjoys competing with her twin sister. 🍇🥎

We asked Laura a few questions about the Moot:

❓ Laura, why did you join the Vis Moot?
🎤 It’s all the opportunities, experiences, and personal growth, which made me join! Apart from setting the first steps towards a supranational working career and sharpening my advocacy skills, participation in the Vis Moot results in bunches of unforgettable memories and new friendships!

❓ How is the Vis Moot different from other lectures?
🎤 It’s the truly caring and supporting environment! In barely any other lecture, everybody is so genuinely willing to dedicate almost all of his/her time, effort and powers
to achieve something extraordinary, especially together as a team!

❓ What’s your favourite Vis Moot habit?
🎤 Supporting and caring for each other while gradually growing into a little Vis Moot family.

Stay tuned, you will moot & greet with the other tem members soon! 🥳

⭐ MOOT & GREET WITH OUR TEAM ⭐
ANDRA TOFAN (22)

The Vis Moot is certainly known for bringing together students with a strong international focus in their careers. However, Andra Tofan’s international career path is almost second to none. Already long before graduating from High School back home in Romania, Andra decided to pursue her dream of becoming a lawyer in the UK. Fast-forward to the present day, she has almost completed her LL.B. at Queen Mary University of London, in the course of which she is currently spending her final year abroad at the University of Vienna. On top of that, Andra has presided & vice-presided numerous European Youth Parliament sessions all over Europe. 🌍

Moreover, Andra is certainly a true moot court expert: She has not only participated but even came out victorious in three moot competitions already! To our good fortune, Andra uses this experience for the benefit of the entire team by regularly impressing us with both her outstanding legal and organisational skills! When she is not drafting Vis Moot memoranda, you will most likely meet Andra in one of her favourite Viennese cafés, where she is regularly working on her own book. 📚

We asked Andra a few questions about the Moot:

❓ Andra, why did you join the Vis Moot?
🎤 Firstly, I am fascinated by the efficiency and internationality of arbitration, thus, I wanted to dive deeper into its theoretical foundations. Secondly, I wished to enhance my drafting, research and advocacy skills. Thirdly, I hope this experience will inform me if I wish to become a disputes or transactional lawyer.

❓ How is the Vis Moot different from other lectures?
🎤Everyone is here because they truly want to be!!! This means that I am working alongside and constantly learning from amazing, dedicated and inspiring teammates and coaches - which to me is everything I need to enjoy the work and actually have fun.

❓ What’s your favourite Vis Moot habit?
🎤 Solving problems that at first glance appear impossible.

Stay tuned, you will moot & greet with the other team members soon! 🥳

⭐ MOOT & GREET WITH OUR TEAM ⭐
LUKAS PETSCHNING (21)

Lukas did not make the decision to apply for the Vis Moot overnight. Quite the contrary, he had planned to deep-dive into the field of Arbitration for quite a while before finally embarking on this adventure. So generally speaking, our team’s gentleman leaves nothing to chance. His academic performances, which earned him both scholarships and a place in the Law Faculty’s top league program, perfectly prove that. 🚀
However, Lukas’ interest is not only in the law: In fact, he has just started a sinology degree and hopes to further improve his Mandarin Chinese. Let’s see if he will even surprise his Vis Moot Coaches with some Chinese articles and authorities. Another fun fact highlighting Lukas' passion for the East Asian world: He unwittingly visited the AIAC in Kuala Lumpur even before knowing what the Vis Moot was. 😎

We asked Lukas a few questions about the Moot:

❓ Lukas, why did you join the Vis Moot?
🎤 I joined because of my interest in arbitration. It’s a subject that your average civil procedure textbook covers on 10 pages - mostly from the lex arbitri perspective. But there’s this whole world of efficient, innovative and genuinely international dispute resolution that doesn’t get enough appreciation.

❓ How is the Vis Moot different from other lectures?
🎤 It takes a huge amount of effort and determination. But that’s the most fulfilling part, I’ve learned so much throughout these last few months about legal areas that you usually just don’t get to study in-depth. And I’ve met a great bunch of enthusiastic colleagues along the way. :D

❓ What’s your favourite Vis Moot habit?
🎤 The unhealthy combination of coffee, Red Bull, candy and popcorn that fuels our 3am writing sessions.

Stay tuned, you will moot & greet with the other team members soon! 🥳

⭐️ MOOT & GREET WITH OUR TEAM ⭐️

KATARINA MARKO (21)

Katarina & the Vis Moot are a perfect match!
Not only do her academic achievements speak for themselves, but Kati also applied her skills in practice already: For example, when working as a pro-bono start-up consultant and interning in multiple law & consulting firms. Being a Student Assistant at the Department of Civil Law as well, Kati never fails to amaze both her coaches and team colleagues with her expertise on the CISG.
However, representing clients before the Arbitral Tribunal isn’t Kati’s only strength. Not by a long shot! She also speaks five different languages, spends most of her spare time at the tennis court and particularly enjoys playing the piano: To the fury of her unfortunate neighbours, she would even practice it after late-night Vis-Moot-sessions.

We asked Kati a few questions about the Moot:

❓ Kati, why did you join the Vis Moot?

🎤 It is the international aspect that particularly appeals to me. Meeting so many teams from various countries and seeing the different legal approaches clash leads to experiences that you can hardly get anywhere else.

❓ How is the Vis Moot different from other lectures?

🎤 To deal with a case in such depth, to discuss every word, to search for every argument, this is what makes the Vis Moot so special. And in such a motivated team, it is especially fun.

❓ What’s your favourite Vis Moot habit?

🎤 Probably our late evening brainstorm sessions, usually accompanied by loads of snacks and countless cups of coffee.

Stay tuned, you will moot & greet with the other team members soon! 🥳
