Time to celebrate our latest incubator graduations! 🎉

What a journey it has been! Big congrats and a warm round of applause to TU Wien i²c spin-offs Joulzen, Klared, Patholux and Leotrek, who have all completed the incubation program and the latter two finally made the wall of pioneers. Chapeau!

Each team held its final review, presenting their entire journey: where it started, the challenges they faced along the way, where they stand today and their plans for the future. These moments are so special to us, because this is when all the effort, excitement and learning finally pay off.

A big thank you also goes out to all our Advisors in Residence (AIRs) who joined the sessions and contributed so much to the startups’ development. While this is a major milestone for all three teams, we can’t wait to see what’s next!👀

It’s that time of the year again: kicking off the new ESI batch! 🚀

Last week we welcomed the 27 participants of ESI batch #15, who are starting their one-year hands-on curriculum on curriculum in innovation, intra- and entrepreneurship.

Alongside the curriculum, the students notice how their entrepreneurial competences grow: students started with a baseline self-assessment based on the EU’s EntreComp framework, set personal OKRs for their development and measure again at the end. Their startup ideas will be challenged against the goals of TU Wien’s fuTUre fit strategy, all the way to Demo Day in June 2027.

We can’t wait to see the first results. Here’s to a great journey together!

📢 Event alert from our ecosystem: The Ultimate Austrian Startup Experience

On October 14-15, our longtime partner AustrianStartups brings an exciting double feature to the startup community in Vienna, and we’d love to see you there!

💻 On October 14, AustrianStartups is taking over 42 Vienna for a 24-hour hackathon. Doors open at 08:30, followed by 24 hours of building solutions to challenges from real organizations. Every participant gets a free ticket to the AustrianStartups Summit the next day, where the three winning teams will pitch to an investor jury and an audience of 1,000 people from the Austrian startup ecosystem. Don’t have a team yet? No worries, you’ll be assigned one!

🚀 New program in the ecosystem: AI:SPiN is now open for applications!

Is your AI research ready to make an impact beyond the lab? AI:SPiN helps researchers, PhDs and postdocs turn AI-based research into market-ready products and, ultimately, successful spin-offs.

The program is run by INiTS – Vienna’s High-Tech Incubator, together with AI Factory Austria AI:AT, the University of Vienna and other Austrian research institutions.

🎓 Great start to the new semester: TU Welcome Day 2026 is in the books

It was great to meet so many new Master’s and PhD students at this year’s Welcome Day and to welcome them to the new academic year. We were especially glad to see such strong interest in our programs and to have so many insightful conversations.

When the TU Wien rooftop smells like a grill, you know it’s that time again 🔥

Every year, we invite our community to a BBQ that brings together founders who have graduated from our incubator, teams just getting started, mentors, and advisors.

This year also marked a BIG first: the launch of our R&D Venture Fellowship 🚀 It’s a one-year fellowship, with the option to extend, that runs alongside the fellows‘ research. It supports them in pursuing their scientific goals while they build towards a product, raise their technology readiness level (TRL), and find the first partners willing to test the technology in practice.

The warm evening ended with cold drinks and conversations that went late into the night. The photos tell the rest of the story.

More than a program for startups and spin-offs, this is a tight-knit community. September is always special for us as new teams begin their journeys, so stay tuned for what’s next!

🎒Start your new semester right: TU Wien Welcome Days

This year’s Welcome Days will take place on 14-15 September at various TU Wien locations, with first-year students (14 September) receiving all the key information for a successful start to their studies, and Master’s and doctoral candidates (15 September) getting a proper introduction to the new semester.

Both days will be opened by Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Jasmin Gründling-Riener, together with the organizers Kyle Schmude (International Welcome and Engagement Center, IWEC) and Christoph Brunner (Student Support). This will be followed by a keynote address from a TU Wien alumnus/alumna and an information fair in Prechtl Hall.

You can visit booths of all degree programs and service units at TU Wien and ask your questions directly about your studies. Meet us there!

🏆 Use Visual Computing for Good And Win €5,000

The VRVis Visual Computing Award 2027 invites researchers to submit outstanding applied research that combines scientific excellence with real-world impact. It’s open to anyone using Visual Computing to build solutions in areas such as sustainability, health, climate, and responsible technology.
