Join Prof. Florian Möslein’s team at the Department of Innovation and Digitalisation in Law at the University of Vienna!
As a University Assistant (Prae-Doc), you will contribute to building a new academic team and conduct research at the intersection of private law and digitalisation, with particular interest in topics such as platforms, crypto tokens and artificial intelligence. Alongside contributing to research and teaching, you will work towards completing your doctoral dissertation.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁:

* An excellent Master’s/Diploma degree in law qualifying for doctoral studies
* Demonstrated knowledge and interest in private law and the law of digitalisation
* Strong interest in international and interdisciplinary research
* Ideally, initial experience in teaching, research projects, publications and academic conferences
* Excellent German and English skills (C1) and knowledge of at least one additional foreign language
* Strong communication and teamwork skills and the ability to work independently

𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺: 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀
👥 Bringing together experts from government, academia, industry and civil society to discuss how children can be better protected online.

The forum focuses on strengthening the skills of young users to engage with social media in a safe environment. The discussion aims to identify key risks, develop recommendations for regulators and industry, and strengthen cooperation for safer digital environments. This debate has already prompted legislative proposals in several EU Member States, including Austria.

Participants will examine current risks and discuss practical legal solutions from a comparative perspective. Expected outcomes include a shared understanding of key risks, policy options such as age assurance, clear recommendations for regulators and industry, and the establishment of a network for future cooperation.

Wir freuen uns, bei der Tagung Medien | Recht | Information am 05. Oktober 2026 einen Workshop von Hannah Hafenscher und Julia Kalus begrüßen zu dürfen!
Unter dem Titel „Who Decides What You See Online? Recommender Systems and Article 27 DSA“ gehen die beiden der Frage nach, wie transparent die Empfehlungsalgorithmen von Meta und YouTube tatsächlich sind – und welche Kontrollmöglichkeiten Nutzenden bleiben.

Dr. Gábor Polyák als Panelist bei !
Wir freuen uns sehr, Dr. Gábor Polyák, Professor für Medienrecht und -politik an der Eötvös-Loránd-Universität, bei der Tagung Medien | Recht | Information am 05.10.2026 begrüßen zu dürfen!
Als Gründer von Mertek Media Monitor und mit über zwei Jahrzehnten Erfahrung in Wissenschaft und NGO-Sektor verbindet er Forschung zu Medienregulierung, vergleichenden Mediensystemen und Plattform-Governance mit praktischem Engagement für Medienfreiheit – insbesondere in schwierigen politischen Umfeldern.
Für seine Arbeit wurde er u. a. mit dem Voltaire-Preis (Universität Potsdam, 2020) ausgezeichnet.

As founder of Mertek Media Monitor and with more than two decades of experience in academia and the NGO sector, he combines research on media regulation, comparative media systems, and platform governance with a practical commitment to media freedom – particularly in challenging political environments.
His work has been recognised with awards including the Voltaire Prize (University of Potsdam, 2020).

Wir freuen uns sehr, Evelyn Hemmer, medienpolitische Referentin im Bundesministerium für Wohnen, Kunst, Kultur, Medien und Sport, bei der Tagung „Medien | Recht | Information“ am 05.10.2026 als Panelteilnehmerin begrüßen zu dürfen!
Evelyn Hemmer ist Medienexpertin und Innovationsmanagerin. Sie entwickelte und leitete die Wiener Medieninitiative, ein Förderprogramm für journalistische Innovationen, und war anschließend als COO des Digitalverlags Hashtag Media tätig.
Ihre Arbeitsschwerpunkte liegen an der Schnittstelle von Medienpolitik, Medienförderung, Plattformregulierung und den strukturellen Veränderungen der Medienbranche.
Aus ihrer Tätigkeit in Medienwirtschaft, Innovationsförderung und Politik bringt sie praxisnahe Perspektiven auf die regulatorischen und gesellschaftlichen Herausforderungen des Medienwandels mit. Wir freuen uns auf ihren spannenden Beitrag!

We are delighted to welcome Evelyn Hemmer, media policy adviser at the Federal Ministry for Housing, Art, Culture, Media and Sport, as a panellist at the „Media | Law | Information“ conference on 5 October 2026!
Evelyn Hemmer is a media expert and innovation manager. She developed and led the Vienna Media Initiative, a funding programme for journalistic innovation, and subsequently served as COO of the digital publishing house Hashtag Media.
Her work focuses on the intersection of media policy, media funding, platform regulation and structural changes in the media industry.
Drawing on her experience in the media industry, innovation funding and politics, she brings practical insights into the regulatory and societal challenges posed by media transformation. We look forward to her exciting contribution!

Wir freuen uns sehr, DDr.in Krisztina Rozgonyi, MBA als Keynote-Speakerin bei unserer Tagung „Medien | Recht | Information“ zum Thema „Zwischen Förderung und Herausforderung: Rechtliche Maßnahmen zur Sicherung von Medienqualität und -vielfalt“ begrüßen zu dürfen!

DDr.in Krisztina Rozgonyi, MBA ist Senior Scientist am Center for Innovation Systems & Policy des AIT Austrian Institute of Technology und Fellow an der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften (ÖAW) und an der Universität Wien. Im Jahr 2026 wurde sie von der Europäischen Kommission in das AI Act Advisory Forum berufen, wo sie ihre unabhängige Expertise in die Umsetzung und Governance des europäischen KI-Rechtsrahmens einbringt.

Sie ist eine international anerkannte Rechts- und Politikexpertin für Digitalisierung, Plattform-Governance und Künstliche Intelligenz. Im Zentrum ihrer Arbeit stehen die gesellschaftlichen Auswirkungen technologischer Entwicklungen sowie der Wandel regulatorischer Rahmenbedingungen.

Sie berät internationale Organisationen wie die Vereinten Nationen, den Europarat, die OSZE und die Europäische Kommission sowie nationale Regierungen zu Medienfreiheit, Plattformregulierung und KI-Governance. Sie ist Autorin von über 100 wissenschaftlichen und fachlichen Publikationen an der Schnittstelle von Medien, Recht und Technologie.
Wir dürfen uns auf spannende Einblicke und Impulse freuen.

🧠Es ist da! Der neue Kommentar zum und Act ist frisch gedruckt. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Forgó, Mag. Lukas Faymann und Doc. 🏆 University of Vienna Teaching Award 2026

We are delighted that “The Black Mirror of Law” has received the University of Vienna Teaching Award 2026 in the category Strengthening the Social Dimension, Inclusion, and Digital Competencies.
Congratulations to Iris Eisenberger, Maximilian Bauer, and Hannah Romano on this well-deserved recognition!

The course uses Black Mirror as a starting point, with students analyzing technological dystopias through a human rights lens. An innovative course that uses speculative fiction to open up critical discussions on the legal implication, regulation, and societal impact of emerging technologies.

Many thanks to the students for their passionate participation and for the nomination.
