🌏 Long-haul Study Trip – Day # 4
Day 4 offered a great blend of heritage and innovation.

The morning began with a visit to The Mills - a remarkable hub for heritage and arts that preserves Hong Kong’s legacy as a global textile powerhouse. This offered a vivid perspective on how an industrial economy can evolve into a world-leading financial center, without losing sight of its roots.

In the afternoon, the group visited the company Fimmick. The discussion with its visionary founder and CEO W***y Lai showcased a different kind of transformation - evolving from a digital marketing agency into an AI agents platform in just a few years.

🌏 Long-haul Study Trip – Day # 3
Day 3 in Hong Kong offered an inspiring mix of diplomacy, business insights, and local culture.

In the morning, our master students had the privilege of meeting the Austrian Trade Commissioner, Consul Jennifer Veigel, at the Austrian Consulate General. The session provided valuable insights into Hong Kong’s unique economic and political positioning, with a particular focus on its special status and the opportunities within the Greater Bay Area. The morning concluded with a traditional Cantonese dim sum lunch, generously hosted by the consulate team.

In the afternoon, the students visited the Hong Kong showroom of Blum, the Austrian leader in furniture fittings. Through hands-on demonstrations, they gained a deeper appreciation for the company’s innovation, product functionality, and commitment to quality.

To round off the day, the group experienced a truly unique Hong Kong tradition at the Happy Valley Race Course. With live music, an energetic atmosphere, and thrilling horse races, it was a memorable way to connect and unwind.

Long-haul Study Trip - Day # 2
This day offered valuable insights into international banking operations.
The group had the opportunity to visit the Beijing branch of Raiffeisen Bank International and engage in meaningful discussions with General Manager Dr. Christoph Pesau and Director of Corporate Clients, Mr. Bill Zhao. Their perspectives on corporate banking and the regional financial landscape were truly enlightening.

In the evening, the group said goodbye to Beijing and continued the journey to Hong Kong - excited for the next chapter of this experience.

On 19 March, we had the pleasure of hosting our annual “BCI Career Day” at the City Campus! Alumni from all specializations came back to share their personal career journeys, real-life experiences, and valuable insights with our students.

The event is all about inspiring students, helping them discover their interests, and giving them a clearer sense of direction when choosing their specialization within the program.

On the first day of the study trip in Beijing, the Master students had the privilege of visiting the Austrian Embassy.

They were welcomed by Trade Commissioner and Consul Franz Rössler, who shared valuable insights into Austrian–Chinese trade relations. His overview of current economic trends and geopolitical developments provided a deeper understanding of the complexities shaping international business today. The visit concluded with an engaging and informal Q&A session.

In addition, the group was given a tour of the offices and had the chance to meet the local team of the Commercial Section, gaining a closer look at their work on the ground.

A great start to the study trip, combining practical insights with meaningful exchange.

The M_BCi24 Study Trip week is officially here! ✈️🌏

This year’s long-haul study trip takes place in Beijing and Hong Kong - two dynamic global cities known for their rich cultural heritage, innovation, and economic significance.
The group began the program in Beijing with a successful Kick-off session and a fantastic welcome dinner. It has provided an excellent opportunity to connect and set the tone for the week ahead.

Master students from the Marketing Analytics specialisation were hosted at L’Oréal’s headquarters in Vienna for their final presentations of the L’Oréal Brandstorm competition, as part of their International Management course.

Congratulations to all students on their excellent presentations and hard work. We would also like to thank L’Oréal for their outstanding coaching, expertise, and the time they dedicated to our students. It was a truly valuable learning experience.

Special Interest Day 2025 “All About Audit” – First-hand insights into auditing

At this year's Special Interest Day 2025 at the University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt, students from the two Bachelor Degree programs “Wirtschaftsberatung” and “Business Consultancy International” were able to immerse themselves in the world of auditing – in a particularly practical way: Representatives from BDO, Deloitte, EY, KPMG, and PwC brought exciting cases on topics such as auditing, sustainability reporting, and forensic accounting, which were analyzed in small groups and for which solutions were developed – “learning by doing” in the best sense of the word.

A get-together following the workshops provided an ideal opportunity to talk to company representatives and make new contacts.

A big thank you to our partner companies, who made the day a highlight for the students!

Last week, Virginia Grögl, our Program Associate, and Dr. Robert Pichler, Program Director, had the pleasure of participating in BFM International Week at our partner university in The Hague.
The event offered valuable opportunities, from networking with lecturers worldwide to engaging with students from The Hague University of Applied Sciences. They delivered a lecture on Cross-Cultural Communication, followed by an interactive workshop where students applied their collaborative skills in a challenging but very practical workshop – The Eggdrop Challenge!

With engaged students, excellent lecturers, and productive networking, it was a highly successful week. We extend our sincere thanks to The Hague University of Applied Sciences!
