The latest episode of AU in Conversation is here ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ ๐Ÿ’œ

Vice Chancellor and President Professor Nicola Phillips is joined by Professor Craig Batty and Professor Anna Goldsworthy to discuss the future of the humanities and their renewed relevance in a rapidly changing world.

How can universities ensure the humanities continue to thrive alongside technological change? If we are to address the world's most pressing problems, how do we move beyond seeing the humanities as "nice to have" and recognise them as a game-changing part of the solution?

Craig and Anna bring unique perspectives to these questions. Craig is the University's Pro Vice-Chancellor, College of Creative Arts, Design and Humanities. Anna is Dean of the Elder Conservatorium of Music and School of Performing Arts, an acclaimed author and concert pianist ๐ŸŽต๐Ÿ“š

As a proud educator of the next generation of healthcare professionals, we welcome the Australian Government's expansion of the Commonwealth Prac Payment program ๐ŸŽ‰

Since July 2025, the program has already supported eligible students across our nursing, midwifery, teaching, and social work degrees with the costs of mandatory placements.

From 1 July 2027, the program will extend to include eligible students from a range of healthcare degrees, including clinical psychology, allied health, radiography, pharmacy, and podiatry.

It's programs such as Commonwealth Prac Payment that help make a positive impact for our students while they build hands-on experience in the field ๐Ÿ™Œ

The latest episode of AU in Conversation is here ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ ๐Ÿ’œ

Vice Chancellor and President Professor Nicola Phillips is joined by Professor Helen Marshall AM to discuss vaccination โ€“ a topic that became one of the most debated issues of the COVID-19 era.

Vaccination rates appear to have been falling since the pandemic, as once-conquered illnesses make a return and new threats, such as bird flu, emerge.

How did we get here? Why did some members of our society become distrustful of science during the pandemic, and how prepared are we for the next one? How can universities help?

Professor Marshall is uniquely placed to address these questions as professor in vaccinology in the Adelaide Medical School โ€“ Adelaide University, and a former South Australian Scientist of the Year, Australian of the Year (SA), and South Australian Woman of the Year who has spent her career helping translate vaccine trials and evidence into public health policy.

Itโ€™s another big topic that could not be more relevant today.
