Last week we read Just Between Us written and illustrated by Adeline Kon ⛸️ The graphics are gorgeous, the enemies to friends was well written and satisfying 💌 We had lots of fun discussing this one! We did struggle staying on topic, talking about (mostly) related topics. As well as discussing the themes of sexuality, and pressure on athletes, we also touch on other sport anime, the popularity of sport romances and what sports would make good romance stories. Let us know what other sports do you think would make good romance books?

We would love to see you at our future meetings for free snacks and bookish conversations! 📚 We meet Wednesdays 5pm at Nexus 10 UB34 (excluding movie nights 🎥) and on Discord, all our links can be found in our bio. 📖

Book Club is collaborating with Writers' Club next week to bring you a table read/performance of an original work, First Date, a short play by Octavia Kelly (Octavia Kelly). Join us 5pm Wednesday 19th August in Nexus10 UB34 or via the Book Club discord to see this script come to life!

We are currently also seeking interest in those who would like to be a performer for next Wednesday! We have two gender-neutral roles in the play, so contact the Book Club if you're interested!

And if you're interested in student-written, student-directed, and student-performed stageplays, keep an eye on the Writers' Club socials and Theatre Guild Student Society for information about their upcoming collaborative showcase, A Night at the Diner, coming in late October.

July was our classics month! We joined Holly Golightly in 1943 New York for Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Truman Capote and watched the corresponding movie 🦋. We joined Sethe as she faced the rememory of being a former slave residing in 124 for Beloved by Toni Morrison 📚. Likewise we watched the movie adaptation. 🎬

To finish off the month we held our Christmas in July event, Bookmas, in collaboration with Books and Banter Book Club 🎄. We had lots of fun with classics in July and hope to see you in August for romance 💌

We would love to see you at our future meetings for free snacks and bookish conversations! We meet Wednesdays 5pm at Nexus 10 UB34 (excluding movie nights 🎥) and on Discord, all our links can be found in our bio. 📖

At our last meeting we read Toni Morrison’s Beloved, our second classic for this month 🍃. Through Morrison’s writing we explored the complex trauma of the residents at 125 Bluestone road. 💙 The uncomfortable themes this book forced us to face, resulted in an extensive, thoughtful discussion. 📚 We would love to see you at our future meetings for free snacks and book chats! We meet Wednesdays 5pm at Nexus 10 UB34 (excluding movie nights🍿) and on Discord, which is links in our bio, along with any other links you might need.
