In Term 4, our Year 8 students visited the University of Adelaide’s School of Earth and Environmental Sciences for an exciting, hands-on exploration of Earth science. They examined rock samples under microscopes, handled real meteorites and volcanic materials, heard stories from PhD students working in the field, and attended a lecture on Adelaide’s changing climate.

A standout moment was the interactive geomodelling sandpit, where students simulated tectonic movement, erosion and landscape formation in real time.

The experience brought their learning to life and sparked fresh interest in geology, palaeontology and climate science.

Last week, our community gathered at St Francis Xavier Cathedral for the End of Year Eucharistic Celebration - a cherished expression of our Catholic Dominican heritage. Together, we farewelled our Year 12 students and marked the end of the 2025 school year.

Grounded in our I am theme, the celebration reflected gratitude and unity, with readings, prayers in multiple languages and uplifting music from our talented musicians.

To finish, our Junior School students and 2026 Student Leaders formed a heartfelt guard of honour for the Graduating Class of 2025 - a moving reminder of the bonds that connect our community across all ages.

Last week, our Year 9 students took part in a powerful learning experience at West Terrace Cemetery as part of the Headstone Project SA. After researching the lives of World War I veterans, students attended a commemorative service honouring Great War nurses Sister Christina McLean and Sister Isabella Parkinson, and soldiers PTE Arthur T. Anderson, PTE Frederick A. Parker and L/CPL William Ryan of the 27th Battalion AIF.

We thank Ms Ziah Case, Mrs Heidi Senior, Mr Michael Brown MP, the Macclesfield RSL Sub-Branch, the families and descendants of those commemorated, and our community partners for supporting this meaningful experience. It was a memorable moment of reflection, respect and learning, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with Headstone SA.

Our Junior School Christmas Concert was a joyful celebration to close the year. Students from Reception to Year 6 filled the stage with colour, creativity and confidence as they showcased their learning in the Arts through drama, dance, music, choir and visual art.

Highlights included the charming Nativity scene from our Reception and Year 1 students, the wonderful sound of our Junior Strings, the energetic Year 5 Dance Aerobics inspired by their AeroGymnastics program, and the confident hosting by our Year 6 students in their final Junior School celebration.

It was an evening full of talent, community and the true spirit of Christmas, and we are so proud of everything our students shared on stage.
