Alhamdulillah.
Two Iqra students have placed nationally in the Arabic Reading Challenge.
Deyaa Al-Dirini, Year 3, finished third in Australia. Hamza Bay, Year 10, finished in the top ten.
The challenge asks students to read Arabic books on their own and show they have understood them. Deyaa is in Year 3 and reading at a level that put him third in the country. Hamza reached the national top ten in Year 10.
Our students come from homes where Arabic is a first language and homes where it is not. Both are sitting in the same class, and both are placing nationally. That happens because Arabic is taught here every year from Reception to Year 10, as a language to be read and used, not a subject to get through.
Barakallahu feekum to our Arabic teachers, to every student who took part, and to the parents behind them.
