It is with great sadness that we pay tribute to Ian Boyd who passed away this morning.
Ian was past vice-president of the CBCA SA branch, and a fabulous SA creative who will be sorely missed.
Sympathy to Michelle and the girls on behalf of the CBCA SA committee and the wider SA children's literature community.

RIP 😢

We are deeply saddened to share that John Flanagan, author of the beloved and bestselling RANGER’S APPRENTICE, BROTHERBAND and ROYAL RANGERS series, has passed away.

John’s storytelling was shaped by a belief that heroism comes in many forms. Inspired in part by his own children, his characters – resilient and often underestimated – encouraged young readers to see strength in skill, creativity and perseverance. His work has had a lasting impact on a generation of readers and we are grateful to have had the joy and privilege of working with him for over twenty years.

Children’s Publisher, Zoe Bechara, said: 'I think it is fair to say that his love for his children precipitated his love of writing for children, and may well be the reason his books treated his young readership with such dignity and deep understanding. One of the great writers for young readers. Farewell, John.’

When AI just doesn’t get it…

Updating a classics list and googled to see if there is a Popular Penguin (those orange paperbacks) edition of ‘White fang’ to match ‘Call of the wild’. Google’s AI pops up to inform me that there is no popular penguin species named ‘white fang’. 🤪
