The need to know every corner of the planet, to understand how environmental
issues, population growth and natural disasters affect us all, has created a growing
demand for Geospatial Scientists. These scientists gather, manage, analyse and
present geospatial information for a huge range of applications and contribute to the development of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Global Positionin
g Systems (GPS). Our degree
The Bachelor of Geospatial Science offers a blend of the fundamentals of Geospatial Science with applications in environmental management and modelling. The course begins with a shared common first year with the Bachelor of Environmental Science, then focuses on elements of Geospatial Science
like GIS, remote sensing, mapping and land surveying. We have a strong focus on the application of Geospatial Science to environmental issues. We undertake numerous field studies to give our students the opportunity to see firsthand how Geospatial and Environmental Sciences relate to each other. The program will suit students interested in surveying, mapping, GIS and the environment. Students will also benefit from knowledge in Mathematical Studies
and Physics (contact us for further details). Career opportunities
There are great career options for those wishing to work in Geospatial Science. Our
graduates find employment in a wide range of careers, locally and internationally, in areas such as Surveying, Digital Mapping, Environmental Science, Photogrammetry, Cartography, Community Planning, Disaster Management, Forestry, Mining, Military Planning and Urban Planning to name a few.
