As part of National Reconciliation Week, Ironwood Institute is honoured to share "Meeting Place" - a commissioned piece by First Nations artist Gary Micken Sparrow.

This piece honours the significance of traditional gathering places and reflects the values that are deeply embedded within the Ironwood community of integrity, connection and environmental stewardship.

More than a visual representation, it symbolises community, shared learning and the importance of coming together with respect, understanding and a connection to Country. It acknowledges the cultural knowledge, history and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

"Meeting Place" serves as a reminder of the importance of listening, learning and strengthening relationships through respect, understanding and shared experiences.

๐ŸŒฟ National Reconciliation Week 2026 ๐ŸŒฟ
27 May โ€“ 3 June

This yearโ€™s theme, โ€œAll Inโ€, is a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation. It reminds us that reconciliation is everyoneโ€™s responsibility and that meaningful change happens when we learn, listen and walk forward together.

At Ironwood Institute, we acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands on which we live, learn and work, and pay our respects to Elders past and present.

National Reconciliation Week is an opportunity to reflect on our shared histories, cultures and achievements, while continuing to strengthen understanding, respect and relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

As an education provider, we recognise the importance of creating culturally respectful learning environments and supporting ongoing conversations that contribute to reconciliation and positive change across our communities. ๐Ÿค

๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒฟ Where Your Health Grows๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒฟ

This week, Ironwood Institute joined the celebration of Botanic Gardens Week, held from 18โ€“24 May, under the theme Where your health grows.
The week highlights the powerful health and wellbeing benefits of spending time in botanic gardens and connecting with nature.

As part of the celebration, Ironwood participated in Mindfulness in the Gardens on Friday, a calming meditation workshop set among the beautiful surroundings of Adelaide Botanic Garden.

This nature-based experience was designed to calm the mind, engage the senses and inspire creativity. It was a wonderful reminder of how green spaces can support wellbeing, learning and connection.

Thank you to Emma Llewellyn and the team at Adelaide Botanic Gardens for creating such a peaceful and meaningful experience.
