MTA Training and Employment makes it easy for both MTA host employers and industry apprentice employers because regardless of whether an apprentice is industry employed or MTA employed, apprentices can still access the same high quality training and facilities through the MTA's Training and Employment Centre in Royal Park.

As part of National Skills Week 2026, we’re proud to support the focus on showcasing skills, careers and the opportunities available to young people across Australia.

Last week, our MTA Training and Employment Centre in Royal Park came alive as we welcomed hundreds of students, teachers, parents and guardians across two action-packed days.

Students had the opportunity to explore the many career pathways available across the automotive industry, while getting hands-on with the technologies shaping the future of our trades.

A special thank you to our MTA members, employees, and Ambassador Apprentices who generously gave their time, shared their experiences and brought along vehicles for students to see and explore.

We’d also like to thank our valued sponsors and industry partners for their support in helping bring the event to life.

Thank you to everyone who attended, contributed and helped make the two days such a success.

It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the breadth of careers available in automotive and give the next generation a closer look at where a career in our industry can take them.

On August the 6th, we hosted Collision Connect, an industry night bringing together the collision repair sector to showcase innovation, share knowledge, and explore new ways of working.

We explored how new technology, repair methods, and improved processes can create greater efficiencies in paint and panel repair, while also increasing awareness around the importance of ADAS calibrations. Ensuring calibrations are completed correctly whenever changes are made or components are replaced following an accident is critical to vehicle safety.

A big thank you to Keco Australia, NEXION, Axalta - Australia and New Zealand and Anest Iwata Australia Pty Ltd for supporting the event and helping us continue to drive innovation, efficiency and safety across the collision repair industry.

We’d also like to extend our thanks to our members and industry stakeholders for attending, your ongoing engagement and commitment to the industry are what make events like Collision Connect possible.

We look forward to continuing to bring the industry together, share knowledge and drive positive change across collision repair.

We’re incredibly proud to share that MTA Training and Employment has been named a 2026 South Australian Training Awards finalist!

After being a finalist in 2024, taking home the win in 2025, and now returning as a finalist again in 2026, this recognition is a fantastic reflection of the commitment our team has to building the skills, careers and future of South Australia’s automotive industry.

A huge congratulations to all of the 2026 finalists. It’s an honour to be recognised alongside so many organisations and individuals making a real difference through vocational education and training.

We’re looking forward to celebrating at the South Australian Training Awards Gala on Friday, 11 September.

Our heavy vehicle mechanical apprentices at the MTA Training and Employment Centre now have access to a new Heavy Vehicle Air Brake Prime Mover Board, purpose-built to strengthen hands-on training and support the development of practical skills in a workshop environment.

This training aid replicates complex air brake systems found in modern heavy vehicles, allowing apprentices to gain a deeper understanding of system operation, fault diagnosis, and maintenance in a safe and controlled setting.

Investments such as this ensure our apprentices continue to train on industry-relevant equipment and graduate with the skills and confidence needed to succeed in the modern automotive workforce.

Josh’s 1971 Aussie-built Mini Moke, known as “Brum” in his family, is a classic that’s been passed down through generations.

Originally found by his grandfather in 1987, Josh took it on in 2021 and got it road-ready, with family helping along the way.

It’s a simple, lightweight car that turns heads everywhere it goes and delivers a raw, fun driving experience, even if it’s cold and a bit rough on the highway.

At MTA Training and Employment, Josh is learning hands-on skills that he can directly apply back to maintaining and improving his own Mini Moke.

At MTA Training and Employment, we’re investing in modern equipment that reflects real automotive industry conditions.

Our apprentices are now training on new electrical circuit tester machines, building circuits, testing components and developing hands-on fault-finding skills essential for modern vehicles and future automotive careers.
