Today our Diploma of Community Services students had the opportunity to hear from Kala, Director of Women’s Community Centre, who joined us as a guest speaker.

Kala provided valuable insight into the role of Women’s Community Centres and the practical processes involved in developing, implementing, and evaluating community service programs. Her presentation highlighted how responsive program design, stakeholder collaboration, and community consultation contribute to sustainable and inclusive services.

Opportunities like this are essential in bridging theory and practice for our students, strengthening their understanding of real-world community development and service delivery.

Thank you, Kala, for sharing your expertise and contributing to the professional growth of our future community services practitioners.

Our Individual Support students recently joined a Placement Information Session with Resthaven, one of South Australia’s largest aged care providers.

The session covered placement expectations, industry insights, and included a live Q&A, giving students the opportunity to better understand real workplace environments and potential employment pathways.

At Concord Institute, we’re committed to bridging the gap between study and industry, ensuring our students feel confident, prepared, and career-ready.

Thank you to for supporting the next generation of care professionals. 💙

During their last week of classes for this year, our students visited the South Australian Museum for a guided Aboriginal cultural tour, a reminder that learning begins with listening and understanding.

With five floors of history, culture, and scientific discovery, the Museum offers incredible insight into Australia’s past, including the world’s most comprehensive collection of Australian Aboriginal cultural material.

Experiences like today reinforce the importance of cultural awareness, respect, and inclusion in everything we do.

📢 Take a break, It’s Labour Day! We will be closed on Monday, 06/10.

But what is Labour Day all about? 🤔
👉 It celebrates the achievements of the labour movement, especially the introduction of the 8-hour working day, 8 hours for work, 8 for recreation, and 8 for rest.
👉 In Australia, the date varies by state. In South Australia and New South Wales, Labour Day is marked on the first Monday in October.
👉 Other parts of the world celebrate in May or September.

Enjoy your day off, and we’ll be back on Tuesday, 07/10. 🎉
